[Joe has separated from Marvelous at this point, and is walking around the Garden exploring on his own. Though his confusion doesn't show, he is as confused as his captain is. Why had he been enlisted? And where exactly was here?

I can only think of some sort of plot to torture us and turn us into..monsters..for their own gain. [She has already been through that. she isn't willing to go back.]
