[Some people didn't have the common sense to be scared.]

That was --

That was a dragon!

How did you do that?! Is that your GF?!

[Please enjoy a delicious taste of fangirl gleeeeeee]

Why yes. It is my Lusus Pyralsprite. He is quite charming is he not?

Unlike the usual GFs, this one is my personal GF and only I can summon him. He's much more handy then any of the other GFs I have seen.

[She is so smug. The smuggest.]

[In Maria's view, that smugness is well-deserved!]

That's AMAZING!

[... oh! Right! She remembers to salute.]

Ma'am!

[Don't inflate their egos. This is why she's such a condescending bitch usually. But she loves the flattery.]

Is it not? I pride myself in my knowledge gained from this strange place.

Oh? So you know your manners. If I had stickers, you would get a nice gold one. But I am out at the moment so you only get my compliments.

All students are expected to know the Garden code by heart and live by its precepts, ma'am. I apologize for my delay in saluting properly. The dragon was just that awesome.

[Contrariwise, don't inflate Maria's ego when she's just doing what she's supposed to!]

It is okay. I forgive you since you apologized so nicely. I know that my presence alone can put one in awe or shock. It is a very acceptable reaction to such an entrance as the one I have made.

[But it's so much fun!]

Thank you, ma'am. [Really quite sincere.] I hope I get to see that dragon in action sometime soon!

One day you will. But it is costly to play with him without good reason to. If it did not come with such a big loss, I would always have him out. He is my most trusted lusus pyralsprite after all.

Oh, does he carry a price beyond the usual risk of memory loss?

Other then it takes energy to bring him out, no. I just miss having him around all the time.

Oh, I see. It must be something else to have your own dragon...

[And then to NOT have him out any more, not all the time? That really IS tragic.]

Oh, right. I guess you humans do not have a lusus or some kind to help raise you.

[She does bring him out more then she necessarily should. But she keeps such accurate documents of her life, that it is barely a loss.]

No ma'am, only our parents.

[How awesome would it be to be raised by a dragon?!]

Parents? Oh the strange caretakers that humans have instead. I have read about them since we do not have parents like that.

[Wait, what?]

If it's not too forward, ma'am, I...

[There is no, no, no way she can possibly ask this. She's turning red just thinking about it..]

Uh, never mind!

You wish to know how my race exists if we are not cared for my parents.

That's what you wished to ask, is that right?

[TEEHEE.]
