She's this evil sister of Princess Celestia and she's SUUUUUUUPER jealous of her sunny sister that she wants the moon to be like THE BEST THING EVER and so one day she was banished to the moon for a THOUSAND years until really recently she came back and made it all DARRRRK and scary and she hid the princess--

And then me, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Applejack had to go on an adventure into...th-the EVERFREE FOREST and when we got there we helped STOP HER!

While it is possible that this Nightmare Moon has returned, it's much more likely that the elevator simply broke down.
