decree 001

[ It's hella late for an intro, isn't it? But ah, well. Euphie's out in the front lobby, just past the staircase that leads up to the elevator. She's standing there because her bag tore. .w. Shouldn't have checked out all those books from the library, Euphie. Now her things are all over the floor and she has nothing to put them in. Sigh ( Read more... )

[Mjrn is on her way to the Training Center...or was, since she quickly notices the girl ahead and her spread of books on the floor. She seems a bit familiar to the young Viera, who remembers her a moment later as also being in the Garden Code class. The name currently escapes her, though.

Heading over, she nods and crouches down to help collect the books.]

Hello. Where might you be headed?

Hello? [ Euphie looks over at Mjrn and quickly smiles gratefully at her, also recognizing her from that very class. ] Oh, thank you! I was just on my way to lunch before this happened.

Say, don't I know you from our first period? Garden Code, I believe. [ And then Euphie pauses from picking things up to offer Mjrn her hand. ]

It's nice to properly meet you. My name is Euphie.

[Mjrn shakes her hand, smiling as it revealed that the recognition is mutual]

My name is Mjrn. It is nice to meet you, as well.

[She glances to her own bag and peers inside.]

I still have some space in my bag. I can aid in bringing them along to lunch, if you wish.

[ Euphie replies with some small apprehension, glancing between her scattered books and Mjrn's bag. ] Are you sure it won't be too heavy? I'd hate to ruin your bag too.

isn't it? dewdrop_pebbles May 25 2010, 21:27:22 UTC
[Mjrn shakes her head, untroubled.]

I do not have room for them all, but I can manage enough, that you may not be overburdened. It is no trouble.

Well in that case, thank you very much. Here-- [ Euphie gathers about half of them in her arms, not unused to carrying heavy things. It's more a matter of physical inability to contain all the books, notebooks, and various small things that used to be in her bag in her hands all at once. ]

Shall we, then? I haven't quite made any friends yet, if you'd like to have lunch together.

Aye, company would be welcome.

[Mjrn stuffs most of them in her bag easily enough, though holds a couple of the books in her arms, not wanting to make the same mistake that Euphie did. She nods and follows, with a slightly sheepish smile.]

I had thought to visit the Training Center...but that is best done during my free period, regardless.

The Training Center? I haven't been there yet. I'm alright with combat, but... it's not really my kind of thing. Do you enjoy it?

[ It's not her scene, but she doesn't begrudge anyone else for it. In fact, she admires that kind of strength when it's not abused. ]

[Mjrn thinks that over for a moment before responding.]

I enjoy challenging myself, yes. I began to learn ways of combat while in my own world and this one provides sufficient opportunity.

[She glances over to Euphie, curiously.]

What do you prefer, then?

Ah... Well, I prefer to try to resolve conflicts peacefully, though I'm well aware this is not always possible. Even if it's unlikely that diplomacy alone will work, though, I like to try. [ Euphie admits this softly, looking just a little embarrassed. Even her own sister has a hard time understanding her point of view, so explaining it to strangers is always hard. ]

Change through words and reform is slow, but... If I can save even a single life in trying, then it is worth the effort.

But, I do enjoy the challenge of bettering myself as well. Back home, my sister often instructed me on the use of firearms and piloting Knightmare frames. I enjoyed the time with her.

[Mjrn nods, listening to all that without judgment.]

Diplomacy certainly has its place. Though I cannot claim to have any notable skill in that area, I understand preferring the use of force as a last resort and not the first. Your stance is admirable.

[She tilts her head, curious.]

What are Knightmare frames?

ashdakda /looks up Knightmare Frames how the hell do you explain mecha. forfaithful May 28 2010, 07:43:30 UTC
Knightmare frames are... war machines, essentially. [ Euphie falls silent a moment, mulling over exactly how to explain. ]

They're humanoid machines, though they're much larger than a person. I believe average is around... four or five meters? They've primarily taken the place of infantry soldiers, and now the army is trained to pilot Knightmare Frames rather than engage in firsthand combat.

Bad Mjrn, asking so many questions. dewdrop_pebbles May 28 2010, 19:38:21 UTC
[Mjrn's brow furrows as she tries to imagine them. Getting the jist of it, she nods slowly.]

It sounds very...efficient? I wish I could see them. Such technology is does not exist in my world, at least that I am aware. Yet, there are means enough of combat available. Perhaps too many.

I suppose efficient is a good word for them... I think building one here is a little too ambitious without the help of someone like Lloyd, but I could try to draw you the schematics sometime? I still remember most of the specifications....

[ Euphie sighs at that, nodding sadly at Mjrn's comment about means of combat. ]

I think even a few are too many, but hopefully that can be changed in time.

[Mjrn nods at the offer for a drawing. She grows more solemn at that last comment.]

Aye, one may hope. And in the meantime, there is still much to learn.

[Upon reaching the cafeteria door, she holds it open for Euphie.]

Combat and diplomacy aside...what interests do you favor? Have you joined any of the clubs?
