[ Elika is having fun keeping juuuust out of reach of a t-rexaur's massive teeth, dodging, rolling and flipping out of range, making it turn around and around in an effort to keep up with her. She dashes forward beneath its belly and whirls, vaulting over the sweep of its tail and onto its back. It tries to thrash her off

[The boy was enjoying, as much as one could enjoy being a little lost, his class break, knowing he was already late to his next course. Not too worried and perhaps having an argument with his uniform, which he despised using much more than the Order's clothing, he stops when a sound catches his attention.

He walks faster, following the strange sound. It wasn't unpleasant but it was very much new to his ears and it reminded him of a soldier from back home. He stops and approaches the lady with the sound-making artifact.]

What is that?

[ Elika looks up, fingers pausing on the strings, and offers the boy a smile. ]

It's a guitar. You've never seen one?

[ She pats the wooden frame gently, inviting him closer with a nod of her chin. ]

[He walks closer if only to get a better look at the sound-making object.]

No. How does it make noise?

Magic?

[waylights]

[ She laughs, lightly. ]

Not magic. You see these strings?

[ Motioning to the guitar's six wire strings, pulled taut. ]

You just strum them, like this--[ she demonstrates ]--and the movement of the strings makes the sound.

[He stares as she demonstrates and is completely appalled at how such a strange sound can be made with just one pluck. The man who helped him back in the order, he didn't have this guitar-thing but could still make sound with just one pluck of those strings.]

What is it for?

Why do you need to make sound?

[ She cants her head at him. ]

I don't need to make sound, I just want to. I like listening to music.

[So this made music? Can something like this create a variety of sounds?]

How do you make music with it? It's only a couple of strings.

[ Elika runs through a chromatic scale. ]

Like that. Or-- [ She strums a simple melody for him. ] --like that, too.

[Mesmerized by the agility in her hands and the melody they produced, Yuu could only watch with his mouth slightly parted in awe.]

Did you make that up?

[ Elika laughs. When she cants her head, her expression is slightly concerned. ]

No, most of the time I just imitate things that other people made up. Don't they have instruments where you're from?
