It was his way of alerting the others of his presence quietly. His hot butter raisin scones were popular back in Wayne Manor and they did have a distinctive taste and smell. [Cid has to admit that the smell coming from the cafeteria--or rather, the kitchen, he soon discovers--is rather better than usual, and when he peers in, he finds an individual dressed far more formally than the norm as well.

[Typically speaking, at this point Cid would offer his hand for a handshake, but seeing as Alfred currently has his hands full, he merely dips his head in greeting.]

[Cid reaches over and carefully plucks a single scone off of the tray.]
