[Night has fallen on Balamb Garden; the halls of Garden are mostly deserted besides the stray student walking about, and even the usual faculty members are missing from their posts around the school. There's a certain festive energy through the air, the source coming from the Ballroom cheerily decorated located on the second floor

[Byakuya is present as a chaperone. Although he is committed to upholding the rules, he won't be watching what they do so carefully that they'll feel awkward slow dancing with each other. If there's anything he'll be watching carefully, it's the drinks.]

Sharpay, in a hot pink number that reminds her of her senior prom dress, a pink feathery hairclip holding her hair back, and matching heels (she's tiny; kinda needs it), possibly looks more like a cadet than a SeeD, though she's of course been wearing her uniform to teach. She has a drink in her hand - unspiked thus far - and nods towards Byakuya.]

Seems like everything's fine so far.

[Byakuya would have worn his shinigami captain uniform if it wasn't for the fact that it didn't really pass as appropriate clothing for this event. Instead, he was wearing a white dress shirt, a black overcoat, and black dress pants.]

[He doesn't comment on Sharpay's outfit, but he does note that Rukia would probably find the high heels useful. Like Sharpay, his adopted younger sister is quite short.]

[She chuckles.] Hey, things could go well; to everyone's surprise nothing happened at my senior prom.

Is that a formal event like this one?

[Sharpay nods.] Big formal dance party for the graduating class and one for the grade below at the end of the high school year.

I suppose there's no point in being unduly pessimistic. Caution will suffice.

[It's on the tip of his tongue to reply that he had not planned on dancing, when he realizes that she might be attempting to ask him. Although there weren't any dances in his world, he has learned that it's impolite in this one to turn someone down if one hasn't danced at least one dance with them.]

I did come here primarily to act as a chaperone, but there is likely no harm in instructors dancing so long as the drinks do not go unattended for extended periods of time.

Dance by the drinks. [This seems to have been an obvious solution for her.] Just because we're chaperones doesn't mean we can't have a little fun.

[He takes the offered hand and leads the way to the dance floor.]

[She still has all the choreography from the ballroom dancing class down perfectly, but Sharpay gives any dance move her own touch; half prissy, half theatrical, the kind you could see from the back of a full house theater.]

[Byakuya isn't an enthusiastic dancer, but he did well enough in the ballroom dance class. His movements are fluid, graceful, and almost regal. He may not be as socially savvy as some, but he makes up for it with confidence and composure.]
