[ Cloud isn't sure why he's there, really. It's not mandatory, and he knows he won't enjoy himself, yet there he is, standing awkwardly against the wall. He's got his cadet uniform on, and his hands shoved into his pockets, and he watches the crowd, looking out for someone he knows. Aerith or Tifa has to turn up at some point, right? ]

[She's not someone he knows, but the blond hair reminds her surprisingly of her brother so Rin approaches without warning, stopping in front of Cloud with hands behind her back and translator standing uncomfortably beside her.

She says something, her voice cheery and maybe a little louder than necessary - just because they don't speak the same language doesn't mean they're deaf. The translator stares at her for a second, then up to Cloud with a smile to match Rin's.]

You don't look like you're having fun at all. Isn't this supposed to be a party?

[ well, this is odd. Cloud glances between the girl and the translator, not sure which one he should be addressing. He's never really dealt with this sort of situation before. He sighs, not because he's irritated by being bothered, but because really, kids this young shouldn't be getting involved with an institute like the Garden ]

Not really. [ he speaks to the girl, occasionally glancing over at the translator ] Just making an appearance.
