I've written three or four journal entries in the past few days, but I've had things going on from so many angles -- a multi-tiered rollercoaster of head and heart -- that I've been waiting to post something public.
For now I just want wish all of you, my loves, a sparkling Christmas. (Also: Be absolutely sure to see a certain elfkin link, found at the end of the entry.) I haven't talked or written to all of you who've helped me so much in the past week, but I'm grateful to the core -- and words are coming more freely now.
For just a moment, even if it's slightly corny, pause and close your eyes with me. Let everything else drop away. Imagine our hands are all joined; circles and circles enclosed across miles and oceans, beyond this vast cyber-world of wires and longing. Just a tiny piece of this Now, let's exhale, hold, and live at the heart of this Dar Williams lyric: Just before the meal was served, hands were held and prayers were said, sending hope for peace on Earth to all their Gods and Godesses.
I know that lots of us don't celebrate Christmas traditionally, and some of you don't celebrate it at all. But the Solstice, the actual root of what's become a consumer-fueled feast and/or Hallmark's version of Christianity -- is such a magical time. Here's to all of you, and to the seasons we go through together, as the Solstice passes and the nights begin to inch toward more light and warmth.
Until we meet/talk/hug/kiss/write again: Turn up the volume on your computer and
click on this lovely ickle link. (Yes, that is my face, and thanks to my insane sister it's from an extra goofy picture.) Now, try as hard as you can to not laugh out loud!
