Yet another gorgeous day, although it is somewhat warmer, but 86 isn't too bad for August in the DC area. I packed a picnic so that the kids and I could hike out to the woods around the Potomac River (maybe 3/4 of a mile from our house). We had a lovely time. There was a little breeze and the glorious shade from the trees. Once we finished our lunch, we continued our hike along the streams and then took a mountain bike trail which was new to us. At the end we found our river! Of course we had a longer hike back, but the kids were great. Now I need a rest! I love summer and am grateful to live so close to such a beautiful area.
