can walk! We are 2 weeks post op and he's doing great. If you've ever seen what total knee replacement surgery entails then you'll realize just how well he is doing. The scar is about 10 inches long from above the knee to below the knee. The first week was awful. He was in pain and physical therapy just made it worse. We've gone to pt daily for 2 weeks. This week I actually heard him yell when the therapist pushed his knee higher. But he is at 133 degrees now (amount of bend). He is walking and only using the cane occasionally. Climbs the stairs to the second story and of course back down again. The only time I really worry is when he is in the shower but we've made it as safe as we could. I'm amazed that he is recovering so very quickly. Now if he could just get a full night's sleep. He's still using the bed in the living room. And when he wakes he moves to his recliner for a while and reads till either he falls back to sleep there or moves back to the bed. He may get the other knee done in July!
In other news. My department will be furloughed on 4/2 for one day. That is all that is scheduled for the moment but we may end up losing a day a month for several months. But losing one day's pay is much better than losing the job! We were all expecting it so the memo we received wasn't a surprise. The state is in bad shape financially right now.
And we are supposed to have SNOW today. It's that global warming thing...we rarely have snow here but this will be our 6th or 7th this winter/spring! I'm looking out the window at some very heavy clouds right now. Yesterday we had a high of 73.
