I've always been afraid of bridges

and who hasn't had the dream about driving to the top of a hill and there being nothing on the other side and you fall off. That and bridges have always bothered me.

When I go to Texas I have to use the TALL bridge over the Mississippi in Baton Rouge. It's so high the ships below almost look like toys.. Ok that's an exaggeration but it is the feeling. Plus the road bed is like corduroy so the car sounds and drives funny. I drive in the middle lane in case something happens and so maybe I won't go over the side. We were once stopped for about an hour cause a car was hanging halfway over the guard rail...Scarey. Then there is the 30 mile bridge between Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Long stretch over nothing but marsh. Talk about your white knuckle drive. You know that if something happens there it will take forever for someone to help... plus there are snakes and aligators in the marsh. And you gotta remember both of these were built by Louisiana politicians. A political slogan several years ago was "vote for the crook you know!" Really adds to your comfort.

The bridge collapse in Minneapolis will give/has given me nightmares. It is one of my greatest fears.

My heart goes out to all involved.
