My Geekiness....

Let me show you my geekiness. I am now playing a Japanese game called Shiritori with one of my fellow missionaries. (Yes, aflaweddesign, the game played in Voice. Here's a good description of it (taken from the lj of the people who subbed Voice):

Japanese is comprised of mora, which are sound units that are either one vowel sound (a, i, u, e, o) or a consonant/vowel combination (ka, ta, sa, etc.) or the “n” sound. Shiritori is a word game that literally means “take the end.” It is played by taking the last mora of a word as the first mora of the next word. For example: TsuME > Men-tsuYU > YuuHI > HiyoKO

After learning about the game, I wanted to play it, too, but I wasn't sure who would be willing and geeky enough to play it with me. Then I realized that one of the Hiroshima missionaries would be perfect at this game, and when I suggested it to him, he agreed to play.

To make us even geekier, we're playing it by e-mailing the words on our cell phones, and we're writing the words in kanji, so the other person has an even harder time in figuring out what the word is.

It's been really interesting and fun playing this game, and snark we send each other along with the new words is always entertaining.

Oh, and here's a sign that I've been watching too many jdramas recently. I'm now starting to snark in Japanese.
