it's the year of the ox and my dad is turning 60 this year! i'm so glad that he's healthy and youthful still. one of my bosses is 62 and he is really decrepit and old looking- he walks slowly with a bit of a hunch, his hair is all white, and he has a bunch of age spots. my dad is 2 years younger, but has a head full of (mostly) black hair, he walks around fine, can do most anything physically, and is overall quite jolly. i hope i follow suit when i'm older.
pam gave me two red envelopes for the new year. i'm really glad that she and i have gotten closer. my computer has a virus on it and since her husband is a tech savvy guy, he's going to get rid of all the viruses on my laptop for free. i went to best buy and they were going to charge me $199!! what a rip off. this relationship is paying off!
wow wow wow it's been a long, exhausting week. i really hope that we hire someone soon because i don't know how much longer i can handle all this extra work. i guess i just gotta step up to the plate and make the most of everything with a smile on my face. oh and to add insult to injury, we interviewed this girl who worked for the investment bank in my company, but got laid off last year. we asked what her salary requirements were and she said she made $80K base and $25K bonus in her last position! WTF!!! she was making $105K for the same job that i do and get paid peanuts for?! damn, no wonder everyone in the investment bank got laid off...they were all overpaid! waaahh i'm underpaid...EXTREMELY underpaid. i don't even know what i would do with all that extra money. a girl can dream.
oh. it's been snowing a lot this winter. yesterday, as i was walking to the subway heading to work, there was at least 3 inches of snow on the ground and some more coming down. i was wearing my spiffy red hunter rain boots and thinking happily to myself how skid resistant they were, when all of a sudden, i slipped on an icy patch, my legs splayed in opposite directions and i fell down! i was wearing a dress and tights, but i landed on a small snow drift. i had to pick myself and my wet cooch up and walk quickly (yet carefully) away. damn those icy patches!!
speaking of snow, the weather is so weird here in NYC. my first summer here, it was really humid and rained a lot and i was always afraid of the lightning storms that were so constant. this past summer, it was humid, but didn't rain nearly as often and there wasn't any lightning (thank goodness). my first winter here, it was cold, but only snowed a handful of times the entire winter. this winter, it's snowed SO much already...at least once or twice a week. so strange. can't predict anything.
so since this MAY be my last year here in NYC, i've really got to pack everything i still want to do here into this one little year, just in case. i really want to travel to a couple countries in europe this year. i was looking online and there are some really good deals right now. we are in a recession after all....everything is on sale. soooo, perfect time to travel around the world. my sister offered to come with me. she thought that i wouldn't want her to come because i'd rather go with my friends, which is kind of sad. i think it would be fun to go on a trip with her. so, i'm crossing my fingers that i can plan something out for not too expensive.
yay tomorrow's friday!! can't wait to sleep all weekend =)
