I've been taking a lot of time on this video, which I think is necessary when you switch from live-action to anime editing, because the differences are extreme. The basics remain the same, but there is a different set of challenges. Yay personal growth! But I'm finally nearing the finishing line. A lot of it so far has been reading meta, watching anime videos (and um, getting sucked into about ten thousand different anime fandoms at the same time --- I can't even count how many animes I've consumed in the last few months), deconstructing the song to figure out my angle, a lot of planning, and setting a very few clips down on the actual time-line (which have since changed). Now I'm into the actual editing (finally, I know) and I'm glad that I've been taking my time, because I feel confident in the video, and I'm setting down about ten seconds a day if not a little more than that. It may not sound like a lot, but each of these ten second blocks are blocks that work for more extremely well, which isn't usually the case. I don't feel like I'm putting out crap here -- it was important to me that my recipient not get a pile of newbie mush for a video. I don't want it to be a good anime video for a beginner... I want it to be a good anime video.
Granted, I've been been particularly adept at special effects, but I am experimenting some --- I'll leave the flashier effects to the anime vidders who know what they're doing.
Once this video is finished (I don't think I've finished a full length video since, what, Feb?), I have a backlog like whoa.
Let's hope I don't keep getting distracted from those future projects by new animes. THEY'RE SO AWESOME PEOPLE, I'M GONNA HAVE TO GO THROUGH, LIST THEM, AND TELL YOU WHY THEY ROCK. You know -- just to explain why I'm never around anymore. There's just so much to see. And do. And read. And manga is the bestest thing ever.
