I will keep this fairly short. However, before those that read this piece, I would recommend turning up the speakers to as loud as comfortably possible to get as true a feeling from the music. I will have it playing as an imeem on this page until I choose to make my next entry. It isn't his best rendition, but it was the only one available. It is still a wonderful performance nonetheless. (Only on the xanga site, though I'll throw it on facebook as well to spread the homage).
Luciano Pavarotti passed away today after a difficult protracted battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was 71 and he will never be able to finish his "Farewell Tour". I won't pretend to be a stuffed shirt upper class posh individual who fancies the opera . For all I know, the reason why it's always in a foreign language is because they spend the entire time really sing-shouting to each other "What time is it now?!" However, Pavarotti I have a particular liking because of his powerful voice and awesome presence. Not a fat joke mind you... especially since he just died. But he truly was a wonderful and talented individual who, despite being a tried and true advocate of the traditional operatic tenor style, attempted to bring Opera to a slightly younger generation by staging duets with contemporary singers. His most recognized achievement, to many who are not in the field, is his performance of Turandot: Nessun Dorma. I won't lie... I really like his solo of Nessun Dorma; though the performance by all Three Tenors is magnificent as well. A true musical legend has passed. None can truly take his place, though many will attempt to emulate. I will now take the time to slightly bash the "Il Divo" group. The idea was nice... but they aren't that good... at all.
