1. In anticipation of Saturday's concert, I tracked down
this review of the Conchords tour opener in Tampa. A bit disappointing but expected for the first night. The writer takes issue with the over-the-top fans shouting song requests and taking flash photos, and some of the comments say that's perfectly all right since they paid for the tickets. Sigh. I know people will sing along. I'll probably join them in mouthing the lyrics and maybe take a cellphone pic. But this time I paid my $50 to see Bret and Jemaine perform their songs, not to participate in some kind of communal fandom experience. That's what LJ and cons are for.
2.
Wanda Sykes wants a detachable vagina. (NSFW!) Not to be confused with the King Missile song. ;) I can't decide whether it's pro-feminist or a bit squicky. Either way, everything until the last 30 second made me laugh aloud.
3. Until something bigger and better comes along, I've decided that Matt Devlin (Jamie's character on L&O:UK) will be my new mini-fandom. The great thing about this show is that it gives us almost no backstory. So! What do y'all think Matt does when he's off-duty? I suspect he tries to go clubbing but dances horribly, then stops by a newsagent to pick up sporting mags while slipping a men's fashion glossy under the stack. He has a semi-messy flat that he polishes into sparkliness when he invites women over. And he calls his Mum every Sunday afternoon. :)
