Pumpkin spice lattes!

Nov 07, 2007 23:48

To comfort me for not taking him trick-or-treating last week, my nephew sent me a Starbucks giftcard! (Okay, my sister sent it, because my nephew is eight months old.) This plus our chilly weather meant that I was obligated to do a coffee run tonight. I got my usual pumpkin spice latte with 2%, because it is all kinds of wonderful. I noticed that the gingerbread spice lattes are now available, thus creating a dilemma. I usually go with PS because the GB are a bit TOO sweet -- and my motto is "the sweeter the better". From what I've heard, this is a problem facing many aficionados of overpriced corporate coffee beverages. So, a poll:

Also, my laptop is now mute. I can't get ANY sound to play, and I have no idea why. Hmph! Last thing I want is to take it in to the shop, but I might just have to do that. Damn. And since that's about all I've got to say tonight, I'll post some links:

-- Slate reports on a pre-season Project Runway fashion show. Also: Kissing Pandas!

-- Kiplinger's links to 20 sites to help you save money on holiday shopping.

-- FreeRice is the coolest site I've seen lately. Take a surprisingly hard vocabulary quiz. For each word you correctly guess, they'll donate 10 grains of rice to the UN World Food Program.

-- TV Squad lists Seventeen of TV's hottest women over 40. I didn't even realize some of them were that age. They look great! (Must resist cheap botox joke.)

-- Tim Kring apologizes for this season of Heroes. The first reason is a bit too "You just don't GET it, silly fans", but the others are nicely humble.

-- Via greycoupon: Ron Moore on the writer's strike and the webisodes. He talks about how NBCU wanted them to produce the pre-S3 webisodes for free, then removed the end credits so that they could avoid compensation. Even if you're not into BSG, it's a really fascinating look at the strike and the "new media" issue.

-- Via much of my flist: LJ will now let paid/permanent users edit comments! The only restriction is that the feature will be removed once the comment has replies, in order to prevent abuse. A caveat: the original commenter will get e-mails of every edit. I discovered this after editing my reply in the next link four times. Oops.

-- And finally, bsg_crack invites you to Ask Uncle Saul for all your etiquette needs.
