The last day of school came and went with hardly any problems. My summer vacation won't technically start until Thursday; we have Memorial Day off, then two days of post-planning in which we pack up and sort out grades, etc. After that, though, it's ten weeks of nada. We like to joke that it's our karmic reward for ten months of middle school hormones. ;) Oh, and I'll pre-emptively trot out the answer to "Wow, y'all get out of school so early!" Nearly every district in the U.S. has a 180-day calendar. Most choose to begin the year after Labor Day; however, for some reason the schools down here shift it up a few weeks. The downside is that we go back in early August; on the other hand, we finish in May. I greatly prefer this calendar. Starting in August is a bit of a drag, but by May I'm so exhausted that I want to be done. ;)
Haven't done much thus far. Met a friend for lunch at Corner Bakery (I could develop an addiction to Dream Bars), but I wasn't in the mood for shopping afterward. I came home, watched the new episode of Doctor Who, and began a serious exploration of how many games of Spider Solitaire one can play before entering a fugue state. Haven't reached it yet! I'm also going to get back on the daily-posting bandwagon, just because the habit of writing down the day's events is a good one. I've never been one for journaling, but this works out quite well for me.
Thursday night's
Pilots Picspam has been SO much fun -- we're now up to 131 comments. If you're in need of a K/L boost, do check it out. Be sure to click on the collapsed threads, because that's where most of the action is.
Any BSG drabble requests? I'm in the mood to open up Word for the first time in two weeks. I don't always manage all the requests when I offer, but they're a great writing exercise. So, bring 'em on. :)
P.S. Thanks so much,
romanyg!
P.P.S. Happy birthday,
