I am really, really slow on the uptake.
I'd forgotten that Matt Czuchry would do a cameo, so that was a fun surprise that had me laughing aloud. He was fine in the role -- nothing great, but fine.
But the embarrassing part? I kept thinking, "Oooh, Laura San Giacomo is great! I like her role here, and she and Keith are sparking off each other quite well. Since my Alicia/Keith OTP is dead in the water, I could go for them together! Hmm, I wonder why she chose to guest star on this show?" Took me until her last freakin' scene to remember Just Shoot Me.
*headdesk*
When I told
musing_mia, she said I was allowed to have a blonde moment once in a while. ;)
Otherwise, it was an enjoyable episode. Definite problems with the portrayal of feminists, but I've become an expert at handwaving. I'm also reminded of how much more *I* enjoy the show when I just curl up on the sofa and watch it, without getting too caught up in the meta and arcs and such. Definitely nothing wrong with other fans doing that! This style just works better for me.
I also watched and adored
Friday Night Lights. Don't have much to say there, either -- it's another show where I enjoy just watching, without all the fandomish externals. Visually stunning, too, and because of how un-prettified it is. I also really appreciate how, with the exception of Chandler and Britton, the actors are mostly unknowns. Granted, part of that has to do with filming in Pflugerville (yay!), but that and the handheld/documentary style really draw me into the show, to the point that I forget I'm watching scripted drama. Though I'm trying to be realistic about its chances, I really hope this one stays around for a long time.
Speaking of TV... Slate has a review of
ABC's new yuppie dramas. I can't weigh in on their quality, since I don't watch any of them, but it made for interesting reading.
Oooh. More pretty
Bamber pics. Also, tonight I did something embarrassingly fangirlish. Yikes! Am going to keep mum for the time being.
I'm making my own Kara moodtheme, and I might do some other fannish ones after this. Do any of y'all have links to a good explanation of how to upload and use them? *I* know, but I'd love a simple guide that I can include in my post if/when I'm done.
And on a non-fannish note: this article about
the history of maraschino cherries made me smile. :)
