*waves* Hello, all. ^_^
Ah, Wednesday. Well, it will be in a couple hours, anyway. Not much news from this end--just been staying busy with work and school as usual. I am happy that I'm able to squeeze in a little pleasure reading nowadays--mostly working on book reading at the moment... maybe after I get a few under my belt I can turn my attentions back to Elfwood, Livejournal, and FictionPress writings.
Tomorrow my art history class (all 2 of us) is going on the field trip to the art museum (The Wexner, I think it's called) up in Columbus. Yay! It'll also be therapeutic for me to spend several hours in Columbus. Though I've been driven up there a few times recently, I was only in the city long enough to get to the airport. My friends often invite me up there with them when they go--and though lack of time and too much homework is an issue, I know I would still be a little hesitant just from the fear factor. So, yeah, a day in Columbus is a Good Thing. So is my prescription of Zoloft. Zoloft is also a Good Thing. ^_~
Hmm, what else is going on... I'm currently working on one of my papers for art history--a discussion of one piece of art from the Rococo, Neo-Classical, and Early Romanticism. I love some of the interior decoration of French and German salons decorated in the Rococo style... but the style is not a favorite of mine. It's not that it's too pretty or too whatever... it's the principle that these aristocrats (namely in France) were so lacking in morals, throwing lavish parties, sex sex sex, money money money... and they didn't give a shit about their poor countrymen who were struggling to eke out an existence. But, then again, once the French Revolution comes about, heads will roll... but still, I can't study the Rococo without being a bit irked at the aristocracy.
NeoClassicism I really enjoy--the crisp lines and realistic depictions, all looking back to the Classical periods of Greece and Rome. Something about David's The Oath of the Horatii draws me to it...
Romanticism--I need to do more studying of it, but I like it. Not as much as NeoClassicism or Baroque or Gothic architecture, but it doesn't annoy me as much as Rococo paintings do. ^_~
Boy, where'd that bit of ramblage about art history come from?
