1. I got a hog Friday night. Thank goodness for IR scopes and heavy jackets. It was a perfect heart shot. Now we have pork for the year. Which is good since Leland is still unemployed. We don't have to worry about meat (pork, venison, and beef in the freezer) or losing our house (no mortgage and taxes are paid) for another year ( ... )

Mom has become extremely frail. She can barely eat on her own. She doesn't do her exercises and barely participates in therapy. It's like she's given up. She's fallen out of bed and her wheelchair in the past couple of days and looks like she's been in a fight ( ... )

Leland got laid off. Now we have to figure out the whole Cobra thing.

1. Mom seems to realize that she is unable to do what she wants on her own. She's quit trying to escape. This is good and bad. She needs a little of that attitude to get better. Meanwhile, the dementia is still rearing its ugly head. She doesn't seem to understand that she needs to work her brain as well as her body ( ... )

Tuesday Mom thought I was my sister and kept forgetting that I was there. She also kept forgetting what the nurses had told her. It was one of the most depressing days I've spent with her ( ... )

Yesterday was a bad day for Mom. She wasn't all there. She kept thinking I was my sister, forgetting I was there, forgetting what she'd talked about with the nurses.... It was one of the most depressing days I've spent with her ( ... )

Mom is breathing completely on her own, and yesterday she ate for the first time. They helped her walk, and she did well. They are talking about transferring her to another care facility then a rehab facility ( ... )
