Nights Out

Nov 11, 2007 09:48

It's been a nice couple of nights. A friend of mine whose daughter is also in Vision Therapy agree to pick up my daughter and take her to the doctor's office this past Friday. I've gotten a little fed up with the Saturday morning appointment routine, so now my daughter unit has VT on Monday evening and Friday afternoon.

Long story short, she'd brought her entire family, so we decided to go out to dinner. The entire group numbered 8: two couples, four kids. We ended up at Famous Daves trying to cram 8 people, assorted drinks, an order and a half of their "All American Feast" in one booth. Food was good, but it's a good thing we all like each other! ;-)

Last night we went out again. Our friend April had a birthday, so she and her husband drove up from Virginia, and we went to The Melting Pot to celebrate. Now our friends had been to The Melting Pot before. nightwolfwriter and I had never been before. Wow, what an experience! (And another table crammed high with food!) At least there was only five of us this time, so the booth wasn't quite so tight. ;-)

Now the Melting Pot isn't your every day eatery, but it's a great special occasion place so we all spiffed up a bit. My daughter wouldn't forsake her beloved bluejeans, but she did trade her t-shirt for a mock turtleneck sweater and a silver pendant. Wow. You wouldn't believe what that one little change did for her overall appearance. She went from "sloppy little boy" to "young lady" in about two seconds flat!

We had a good time, though. It was a nice chance to kick back and unwind. I've been socializing a bit since school started, but this is the first time in a while I've done nothing two nights in a row. (Now I'm going to have to work today and tomorrow to make up for it, but it was worth it!)

Cheers,

Wish
