This is the first year in several that
nightwolfwriter isn't a guest at Balticon. Sad, really, because it's a local show. I was thinking we weren't going into the city at all, but some friends of ours want to go.
nightwolfwriter will probably tag along for the heck of it. I haven't decided what I want to do yet. It might be fun to go up for a day and see if I can catch up with
perivayne, but I doubt I'll go the whole weekend. Perhaps a gander at the schedule would be in order...
I just got in from cutting the grass. I took my lawn mower in for a tune up a couple of weeks ago and just got it back on Monday. So I went out to cut the grass, got the darn thing started, and the pull-cord came off in my hand. Not cool. :-( Don't know exactly what happened there, especially since I JUST HAD THE THING TUNED UP... Maybe they don't check pull-cords.
Haven't done a lot to prepare for my weekend company since
mollymorrison split. I suppose I'm too used to her being in my guest room. The sheets need to be washed or at least changed before April and her family get here. Luckily, with the exception of the dining room table (which has scrap booking stuff scattered all over it) the kitchen and the bathrooms the place is in pretty good shape. I'm not going to win the prize for house beautiful, but no one's in danger of ptomaine poisoning, either.
My daughter's school drama is nearly over. She's going to have to take a couple of summer school classes, but that's small potatoes when compared with the threat of having to repeat a year. If nothing goes massively wrong, it looks like she'll be going to go to high school in the fall.
If we stay in the county we're in now, summer school is from 8:00 - 11:30 am. (I'm sure the neighboring counties aren't any better, but for now I only have the one schedule.) Unfortunately, even if
nightwolfwriter drops her off in the morning, I'm going to have to drive to work, drive back to the school, pick her up from class, drop her off at home and drive back to work, OR I'm going to have to work some very strange hours for the month of July. I talked to my boss today to see what could be worked out. Coming in around noon and getting off round 8:00 pm is the only real choice if I don't want to go home at lunch every day. I don't see myself getting up and getting in early enough to get off at 11:00. I'd have to show up at 2:30 am or something. Ewwww!!! No thanks!!!
I hate to say anything because I'm afraid I'll jinx it, but some of my more stressful issues are starting to resolve themselves. Now that school's less of an issue, moving is less of an issue. The move if it happens is more for self improvement, and less because we feel we need to get into a new school district. I found a couple of nice properties I'd like to look at--in fact, we were supposed to go look at them this evening, but the seller rescheduled on us. We're supposed to see them over the weekend sometime. We'll see how that goes.
For now, though, it's time for bed. Good night LJ!
