Pardon me, dear, but there's a deer on your lawn...

nightwolfwriter went to get the daughter unit from a friend's house and were surprised when a doe walked out in front of the car in front of us. Yeah, it was neat. Luckily I don't have a lot of the vegetation they like to eat in my yard, so I haven't become a dyed in the wool "deer hater." ;-) A lady in my office thought all the deer were charming until they started eating her garden.

I've heard lots of people say that.

We had deer in the back yard when I lived in Tennessee, but they just grazed, so they weren't a problem.

Out here, they really only live in the canyons out near the ocean, I think. That's the only place I've seen them and the danger is them leaping across the road in front of your car!

That's almost universal, unfortunately. Deer just can't seem to learn to look both ways before crossing the street. :-(

I've been fortunate up to this point *knocks on wood*. I've never hit a deer with my car. nightwolfwriter hasn't been so fortunate. He's hit at least two I know of.
