I have a few moments today so I thought I should update the journal.
The house isn't 100% yet...we kind of worked ourselves into a frenzy and then slumped...so I didn't invite anyone over and didn't plan to go anywhere else. I hope to make use of the long weekend to get back in gear and pick up where we left off.
Since it's just the three of us this year I bough the makings of a scaled down Thanksgiving dinner: turkey cutlets, potatoes, gravy, salad, stuffing, crescent rolls, and pie. Nothing should take major preparation so that's...new. ;-)
I managed to get a new chapter up for Realizations which was kind of neat. Getting some distance between myself and the content of the last three books of the Harry Potter series has been very helpful with finding my own direction again. This is as close as I've ever come to completing a story. Being so tantalizingly close to the end is the main reason I haven't just posted a quick story summary, or given in to fits of discouragement and pique and deleted my all my internet accounts.
Reviews have been trickling in while I've been in limbo, but I'd forgotten how it is to get a bunch at once. If this experiment has taught me anything it's that there's always room for improvement and I can't please everyone. I figure as long as I have more positive than negative I'm doing something right. :-) The story did start to meander a bit while I was needlessly pulling in OOTP story elements. Maybe one day I'll tighten it up but not quite yet. I need to finish it first.
The daughter is doing well in school this year so that's nice. I think she's decided to begin her college career with an Associates degree at the local community college then transfer to a larger school to earn her Bachelors. She was interested in the Culinary thing for a while, but now she seems to be leaning back toward art, photography, animation, or something along those lines. We picked up a catalog for her to look at so we'll see what happens.
My office has had me busy documenting processes which really isn't my favorite thing to do, but the good news is, I'm almost done. I've had some success making chain and beaded lanyards for some of the ladies at work so I'm happy about that, and I've taken a more active role in the local jewelry club. My current idiot thing is I've agreed to participate in an informal "Biggest Loser" competition at work. It starts Monday, November 29th and ends Monday, January 10th. One of the participants is going on a cruise and wants to at least maintain weight during December. We'll see how that goes.
nightwolfwriter is all right. He's planning to turn his attention back to his original stories after the holidays and he's also planning to train for a 5K race this time next year. I'm thinking of joining him...if I can. :-)
Anyway, that's all that I've been up to. My best to you and yours. :-)
I can't believe it's practically the end of November already. Where's my year gone?
