Made a Dent

April and her family are planning to come up for the 4th of July, and the Lord only knows what my contractor is going to decide to work on next week, so I got a little housecleaning done today.

Actually, most of it involved tackling the paper dumping ground that is my desk has become over the last couple of months. I try very hard to go through the mail daily and shred or recycle that which isn't pertinent, but sometimes it piles up. Lately, we've been throwing things down on any available surface trying to clear out whatever area the contractor's crew is working in.

Have I mentioned I'll be happy when this process is over?

Anyway, I'm not quite finished, but farther along than I was earlier today. The expendable stuff is gone. All I have left are the piles of papers that need to be filed. It's stupid, because it's really a simple chore, but I hate filing with a passion. Go figure. I also got a space cleaned off so I could movie the iMac to the desk from the dining room table. It just fits under the hutch of my desk. Yay!

Saw dzeytoun today for a little while. We met for lunch, but he declined my invitation to hang around and help with the cleaning. Can't imagine why! ;-)

Meanwhile, nightwolfwriter is helping out by doing the laundry and discovered we'd accidentally washed an ink pen. *groan* It's happened before because nightwolfwriter likes to stick pens in his shirt collar or pockets, and sometimes forgets to remove them before tossing his shirts in the laundry pile. It isn't such a habit that I look for them like I did when he was in the Army. The BDU shirts he wore when he was in the service had an opening in the top of the button placket that's just perfect to stick a pen down. A lot of the soldiers did just that and at the time I was almost guaranteed to find a forgotten pen in at least one of his shirts on washday. These days it's more of a now and then thing, and I don't always think to look for them when I'm loading the washer. I've gotten away with it the last couple of times it happened, but tonight the pen broke and leaked black ink all over the load. I'm really annoyed because nightwolfwriter and I both lost some of our good work clothes, a pair of jeans apiece, and some of our favorite t-shirts. I suppose I can't fault my daughter for preferring black right now, since all her clothing survived. I wiped down the inside of the dryer so the subsequent loads should be okay (I hope.) If they aren't, I'm sure he'll tell me in the morning. ;-)

On that note, I think it's time to call it a day. Night, LJ. Sweet dreams.
