I don't like the idea of them this way myself; but it's all too easy to envision. Without her support structure, Buffy has a tendency to get very, very brittle. I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

That is beautiful and heartbreaking. I like the use of the Shore Leave planet to create the encounter.

Thank you; I'm glad you enjoyed the fic. It was kind of wrenching to write! I had trouble deciding where to set it until I remembered that episode from TOS; it added enough fluidity to the setting to match the rest of the tone I had in mind.

This is so wonderful and so sad at the same time. The idea that there's a bit of them always with the other, but they can never really be together is heartbreaking. I love how you've written both of them and hinted at their past together.

Thank you so much for writing this for me!

You're welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. I don't do angst often, but what with the song lyrics, and then I remembered how Bones had phrased things to Jim about his ex, and suddenly it all fell into place.

I like to think they could have a happier future; but Buffy without a support structure is a brittle Buffy, alas, and by the mid 2200's I figured she'd have been alone for quite some time.

Wow, Buffy not aging is a really fascinating idea. Excellent writing, as always.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Immortal!Buffy is a theme I return to on a semi-regular basis; it has so many possibilities, and there's enough canon support to easily construct a rationale for it. My favorite is probably Buffy/Reaper (from Doom) or maybe Buffy/Gabriel (as in Van Helsing, the 2004 edition) but I keep returning to poke at it from other crossover angles.

Sometimes healing's the worst part of hurting and you portrayed that beautifully. Thank you, dear.

Stories like this always make me ache to write, but the world isn't always laughter and sunshine. I'm glad you enjoyed the story.
