Well that's great! Wanna be friends? ♥ Your profile/journal doesn't say much about you, so.. tell me something interesting? :) Obv~ I love DBSK too. <3 They were my first kpop loves.
They'll always be my favorites, but right now I'm obsessing over SHINee and Ukiss. Then Beast and Super Junior. Then everyone else. :3
Yeah, DBSK was my first love too, my friend actually only introduced me to the world of kpop around october. I'm 18 and going to school in Brooklyn for creative writing. I got to see JYJ live when they came to manhattan, it was so good! I'm loving SHINee, U-Kiss and Beast a lot right now too! I'm also trying to learn the language, I have korean friends at college and they have been helping me a lot :)
I got into DBSK around '06, I believe lol. I've been into the kpop fandom for a while now~ :) I'm 16, a junior in high school, and I'm planning to major in English when I get into college. I live in Maryland, but I went to see them in New York too-- best day of my life, I swear. I finally got to see Yoochun live! -dies just thinking about it-
I've been learning Korean on my own for the past few years. I can read/write it, and pick up on little things when I watch dramas without subtitles or listen in on my Korean friends' conversations, but I can't speak it on my own. I have yet to take a class, but I've got a bunch of Korean friends that are helping me out little by little. I'm ~hoping~ to take classes soon, but I've yet to find any. :/
They were amazing live! I actually started to cry. I can mostly read/write it, my friends taught me and my roommate all the characters and stuff , now I just need to improve my vocabulary. I really want to take a class in it as well but my college doesn't have korean, which is kind of insane because there are SO many korean's there lol.
Oh, I cried too. After it was over, and my sister and I were walking back to the bus station, I was calling all of my friends and sobbing to them over the phone because it was just so fucking amazing. During the showcase, there was this girl standing next to me who was OBVIOUSLY as much of a Yoochun fangirl as I was. When he came on stage, or whenever he would start talking/singing, we would scream so loud and lean on each other so that we wouldn't fall down. I realize now how ridiculous that must sound, but omg. xD It was so amazing.
And yeah, there are SO many Koreans in this side of Maryland, but none of the schools offer the language. I mean. dkjfhskljdfg It's really annoying. I don't find it fair. ;_____________;
I made a friend in the line who is a major yoochun fan, maybe it was her! lol. and yeah, gah, why is it so hard to learn korean! At barnes and nobles it took me FOREVER to find a korean book because they were all tiny and little, but the Japanese section was HUGE.
It's really annoying, imo. When I was younger, I wanted to learn Japanese, sure. But now it's like ALLLLLL about the Korean, and it's impossible to find more than maybe two or three phrase books. I don't even think they sell the Korean Rosetta Stone in my Borders/Barnes and Noble. I have it, so it's okay, but I'm just saying lol.
I have one Korean phrase book-- it's called Making Out In Korean. It's kinda funny. A lot of it is wrong though; so if you find that book, you should check with a friend before saying something that it tells you. .-.
I have the book Instant Korean and I saw that other book in the little other books by that author thing. I was slightly intrigued haha. Aw, I wish I had a Korean rosetta stone, that would be awesome, I didn't see it in my barnes and nobles either. Why must learning Korean be this difficult!? lol
Did I mention the churches yet? I don't know if there are any Korean churches around you, or if they do things the way the ones around here do, but every Sunday after the service, there are Korean language classes. They're free, and apparently very helpful-- they give you books and tips, and you can come as much as you want. I think I'm going to try it out. You should too, if you can. (:
