here i am, writing about my day at 3 a.m. because i just got in. i just saw harry potter and the order of the phoenix, and there were some things that could have been clearer, some things that were a little off (like sirius being AKed thru the curtain) but....i LOVED it. now, this is a first. i liiiike HP movies, but it's i've never ever ever whole-heartedly LOVED an HP movie before, and i def love this one.
the theatre was jam-packed w/ harry potter fans (duh, midnight showing) so there was a lot of collective clapping, whistling and laughter and so some things were missed, but there were def some things i did not miss thru the laughter (*spoilers until past the #s*):
1. evanna lynch (luna lovegood) was SPOT ON. sooo good. she was skipping and everything and ahhhh sooo perfect
2. thestrals, a bit creepy but howww cool
3. the dementor attack scene w/ dudders at the beginning was really well done. there was this whole storm thing and everything and the alleyway was quite cool. only thing is, mrs figg came into the scene after the dementors were gone, making it kinda hard for her to have witnessed the attack and then testify about it...
4. there were a LOT of funny moments and stuff, but the whole dark atmosphere was held together really well by scenery, lighting, music and storms storm storms!
5. acting was SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!! (and dan was full out, unabashedly hot, dinky haircut and all). bonnie wright (ginny weasley), james + oliver phelps (weasley twins, even tho i've never really had a prob w/ them), emma watson (hermione [okay, she still overacts a bit, and her voice always still sounds like it's ripping, but the scenes are more whole, so her overacting is overlookable. her eyebrows are still overactive, but it's still better]), daniel radcliffe (harry [he is EXPONENTIALLY better. absolutely no comparison. sooo natural now]), and yes, even michael gambon (dumbledore) are all a lot lot lot better.
6. music is reallyyyy good
7. fight scene btwn dumledore and voldie isn't quite what i imagined, but soooo cool, especially towards the end of the fight
8. there's this part where harry's being possessed by voldie, and it's so amazing. the look in his eyes is absolutely terrifying
9. speaking of terrifying, the death eaters (esp the way they apparate and their masks and BELLATRIX) in the hall of prophecies are sooo terrifying, esp bellatrix. omgoodness, she is absolutely screamablely bone-chilling.
10. speaking of apparition, fred + george do their fair-share of apparition in the beginning, and it is sooooo funny. the extendable ear scene is hilarious.
11. the relationships (platonic, romantic and familial) are all represented really well and ahh it was so perfect.
sooo walking home thru the commons at 2:30 a.m. is not fun. esp when you're being followed by sketchy guys. i was walking home w/ dawn (following these 2 other girls) and these 2 really sketchy guys start following us and going like "heyyyy baby, four chicks and 2 dudes, imagine what that'd be like" and i SWEAR i could have RAMMED MY UMBRELLA INTO AND THRU THEIR ASS-WHOLE-ISTIC AND PIGGISH FACES. thankfully, i desisted. but dawn and i searched desperately for an empty cab (which couldn't be found!!) until this complete gent prematurely ended his cab ride for us. i could have kissed him (seriously...he was 20ish, good looking, respectable....haha).
so much more to say about the day but jamie song is a tired little elf (like kreacher, awww).
