Salty: Just not Obvious About It

Just got back from seeing Jennifer's Body and I really enjoyed it. It's not getting too great reviews from some of the major critics, but whatever, let me give you the rundown from how I saw it:

// I wouldn't call this movie scary. It's more comedy with some very violent, gory elements. The trend of so much vomit (District 9, etc) is not appealing. The audience and I totally laughed out loud at some of the parts.

// Megan Fox will never win acting awards but she works in this movie. I'm not so sure how much she is acting, but she brings coy, dangerous vibe. I literally imagine her as a smirking cat playing around with her food when she's circling the guys. It's awesome.

// Amanda Seyfried is really the focus of the movie and her and Megan Fox had chemistry. Okay, I am not one for gratuitous sexy scenes, but damn, if that part wasn't one of the hottest things I'd seen in a while. Not as hot as Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly in Bound, but that is a high bar to breach.

// Diablo Cody still has odd dialogue. I saw Juno and I found it cute but it seemed to exist in the universe where everyone talked the same 'hip' speech. Jennifer's Body doesn't exactly fall prey to that, but there are some times when I tilted my head.

// Adam Brody has really grown up well. His character here was an evil douche but he was an attractive evil douche.

// The music works in the movie really well. For those interested, 'New Perspective' was played during a funny scene and it fit well too. Other music I recognized: The Black Kids, Florence and the Machine. I sort of want the main song by Low Shoulder now.

// It definitely left room for a sequel: ideally, I'd love it if it went in a Needy the Demon Hunter route and have the mirage/memory of Jennifer following her. There could be incorporeal make out sessions. Oh, and how Needy absorbs some of Jennifer/the demon's powers and mannerisms and exacts revenge: epic win.

// I never realize how many females are often the victims until the roles are reversed and every shot of a dead body is that of a guy.

I kind of want to see it again.
