this wall must go but the line must stay
So more time has passed and despite recent developments, I still generally feel the same about this whole situation.
One thing this whole shakeup has done for me is make me examine where I am on bandom/fandom and solidified some thoughts I'm having about it all.
Also, my f-list is awesome. I've seen a range of reactions and while I don't agree with everything, you guys are super articulate and passionate about your thoughts and these past days have made me go 'hell yeah, these people are awesome!'
What I've Gained from this (so far):
While my refusal to read breakup fic did last for a day, it eventually broke in the face of cool fiction, so you see where my priorities rest. Really, I've never been a fan of breakup fic, even when it was just an AU futurefic. I'm not more or less of a fan now that it has been written. This isn't to say that I'm searching for angsty breakup fic (because I am most certainly not!) but it does mean that I was able to read some and not get (too) emotional.
Gen breakup fic with a brendon/spencer slant by
reni_days that made me smile with a light film of tears over my eyes.
Jon/Spencer fluff fic by
jacqui_hw that made me grin and smile and realize that my Original Pairing was going to be just fine in the fandom. Also had some background Brendon/Ryan that took me back to when I first got into patd. (This is so good! You can always imagine it as an AU if you must.)
The first breakup fic that I chose to read and it made me cry but the tears weren't all painful. Sometimes tears aren't bad things. It's Jon/Spencer and it has this air of sadness and hope that made me walk away from the computer and come back because this is a very good story. (PS it's by ficjournal )
foxxcub 's latest is not canon breakup fic but it is just what I needed to remind me how wonderful this entire fandom is and how cute panic! at the daycare is and how much I miss crack.
& last!
beingothrwrldly is the first one to make me totally laugh out loud with any kind of tears with this \o/ Really. I now want more fics told via stardolls. (any of you Pete/Ryan fans should definitely check it out. Bonus cameo by Jonas!)
