of high school fics? or pretend boyfriend stories with hidden crushes? Umm, never. There will never be enough, especially when they are as good as the story I'm reccing here. Sure, you may have doubts, but just know that I had to wait about half a day to calm down enough so this rec post wasn't full of babbling, capslock, !!!!, and *gifs of frank licking things. (still, I don't know if that would convey the level of adoration I have for this one)
This is what I said on AIM about it
I'm like reading this AU that takes the traits of all those high school movies of the late 90s (10 Things, she's All that, Drive Me Crazy) and present pure fantasticness. It's Brendon/Ryan and features my current favorite new thing (douchey Brendon with a heart of gold) It's making me smile so hard right now
....it was that good.
Remember all those wonderful teen movies in the late 90s that featured attractive older people, that would never actually be in your local high school because they were 25? 10 Things I Hate About You, Drive Me Crazy, She's All That--this fic puts me in mind of those. It's funny, touching, it had so many lines where I was howling with laughter.
While I admit an abundance of bad to mediocre high school fic, it's definitely stories like this one that makes wading through all the dreck worth it.
(So do I have your attention....)

"Oh, I'm not here for that," said Brendon. "Jeez, talk about lame. Also, I might have to learn to spell. No, I came here to ask you out."
"Out where?" said Georgie blankly. The other boy's cheeks puffed before he startled spluttering helplessly.
"On a date," said Brendon helpfully. He didn't mind if Georgie were a little slow. God forbid he think this was serious. "I really want to make my ex-girlfriend jealous." Georgie's eyes went wide. Brendon noted inconsequentially that they were a really dark shade of brown. "I'd pay and everything."
"Okay, okay, where's the camera?" the other boy demanded.
"I'm not going on a date with you to make someone else jealous," said Georgie. "That's sick. And demeaning."
"More demeaning than lying to you?" Brendon shrugged. "Whatever. What about you, Snark Boy? You up for it?"
"A date with you? I'd rather eat my shoe," said the boy. He appeared to consider this. "Or at least, your shoe."
I Don't know what else I have to type to convince you.
