I feel like Winona's character suffers from that thing a lot of female characters suffer from when they're on a show which features a larger than life male character as the main character. By which I mean that her entire characterization has so far revolved around Raylan and how he sees her which in the first season was as the great love of his life, the one that got away, etc etc. and because of that I think the viewers put her up on this pedestal much the same way Raylan himself does. But. I think there would have to be something more to her if she married Raylan in the first place. I can't get my head around the Winona that married Gary and the Winona that married Raylan.

Anyway! I have so many thoughts about the two of them. I don't think I actually ship them as a couple, but I don't find them the least little bit boring. I think there's so much history and love and misunderstanding there that even if they kept them together for the foreseeable future I wouldn't be against it. I'm actually interested in them exploring how they think this might work between them when it didn't before. And I think Winona's little smile in the elevator at the end indicated (to me at least) that it is ON between them now. I don't know if Raylan is on the same page, but I think for Winona at least this has finally made her realize that she wants to try again with him for real.

I completely agree with this. Winona isn't the only one to suffer from this, but I feel like Ava has stepped out of this trap by now joining threads with Boyd. Raylan in a relationship is at his least interesting for me in the show, but I recognize that it is necessary to show him when he's more relaxed. Now that I've had a day to think over things and got over my initial image of Winona: I guess her recent actions show a kind of daring that she'd have to have in order to be intrigued by and captivating to someone like Raylan (which actually reminds me how similar she and Ava are). I always viewed her marriage to Gary as a response to her and Raylan.

Before this episode, I found them as a couple more boring but with last night's episode, I can't say they're boring at all. I don't know if I ship them, I don't know if I actively ship any romantic pairings in Justified just yet (Yes, I'm salivating over the complicated bond between Raylan and Boyd, but I have that same feeling for the thing between Rayland and Arlo. So it's more like I love the relationships in this show.)

I think that's what I love about Justified too. I'm really invested in them all as people. I could care less about all of the couples (though I really did like Ava and Raylan together mostly because AVA *__*). But all the characters and their interactions with EVERYONE are so interesting.

I really want to learn more about Rachel. The small glimpse into her past was really interesting and the episode when she asks Raylan to accompany her into Harlan county to ask questions. IDK. I really like her and wouldn't mind learning more. I also really love Art, especially his sort of father/son relationship with Raylan where you can see that he genuinely likes and respects Raylan and thinks he's a good man who is good at his job even though he's a total pain in the ass.

And Boyd and Raylan are fascinating. I love the complications of childhood relationships where you have all these messy residual feelings from a time that was drastically less complicated than adult life is. And then you throw in their very different paths while technically being very similar men with similar backgrounds and moral codes and ACK. It makes for some really delicious relationship drama.

On a completely random note, are you familiar with Shameless on Showtime? It's in its first season and if you like character driven shows with all that messy imperfection I highly recommend you checking it out. It's my favorite new show this season and I am obsessed with it!

You are the second person to talk about Shameless to me, so now I'm definitely going to have to check it out.

Everything you said about Justified is everything I feel about it. Definitely want more of Rachel and Tim too.
