Summary: Yesung met with an unfortunate accident.
Author's Note: Plot is not mine. I just wanted a YeMin fic especially since they seem to be non-existent now and well, YeMin should have their version of Forever and Always. So yeah.. this is a song fic, adapted from.. well, a song. Lol. XD
It's encouraged to listen to Forever and Always - Parachute when reading~ ^^
P.S. Another reason for angst - I'm sad over the fact that KyuMin is no longer roommates. =[ No more "my roommateeee~" now. D;

Sungmin sat at the dining table, fingers tapping on the table top relentlessly. Jongwoon was late - he was supposed to be here two hours ago. Shouldn’t he have called him to inform him that he’ll be late? He usually would. Sungmin frowned at that thought as he brought up his other hand to prop his head. He was getting restless, especially after he felt a prickling sensation crawling up his spine. Something was off, but he couldn’t pinpoint what.
Getting disheartened at the hours of Jongwoon not being there increasing, he picked up the phone and dialed the familiar number just to check in.
“The number you have dialed is unavailable at the moment. Please try again later,” the other end informed him for each time he called. He bit his lips, deciding to wait for a little while more before trying again. At the end of half an hour and still no sign of his boyfriend, he made up his mind to call up Hyukjae, his best friend and Jongwoon’s colleague, to check if Jongwoon was with him and that his phone battery was flat.
Sungmin heaved a sigh of relief when Hyukjae picked up the phone after it rang thrice. He was so afraid that no one would answer him. He took a few seconds to compose himself and his thoughts - he didn’t want to scare his friend and make him worry as well. And knowing Hyukjae, he’ll be an even bigger worrywart than him and that would make him feel all the more worse.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Hyukkie. It’s Sungmin.”
“Hey. What’s up?”
“Is Jongwoon still at work with you? I can’t get through his phone.”
“No, I haven’t seen him since... three hours ago. Why? Is something wrong? You need help with anything?”
“No. No, it’s nothing. Alright, thanks Hyuk. Let me know if he contacts you, yeah?”
“Sure.”
“Thanks. Bye.”
Sungmin sighed, placing his phone faced down onto the table as he gazed out the windows. Where was Jongwoon? Hyukjae said he didn’t see him since three hours ago? That was even longer than the time he sat there waiting for him. Could he be having a discussion with a client and didn’t know his phone battery died? No, it couldn’t be - Jongwoon didn’t mention anything about meeting a client when he invited him over. And he always told Sungmin if he were, just in case he would take a longer time settling things than necessary. He knew that he would worry if he didn’t, so he never failed to inform him.
Perhaps he should call up Jongwoon’s boss just to double check. No harm in doing so, right? After all, his boss was their close friend as well and he would understand Sungmin’s reason behind it. Nodding to himself, he picked up the phone again and was about to dial before an unfamiliar number came up on the screen. Furrowing his eyebrows together, he answered it.
“Hello?” He said hesitantly.
“Am I speaking to Lee Sungmin?”
“Yes, that is me.”
“We regret to inform you that a man named Kim Jongwoon has met with an accident. You were listed as the first person to call in his particulars. It is really important for you to come over to the General Hospital right now.”
It took him a while to gather his thoughts before he thanked the person and hanged up. So this was what he had been feeling uneasy about. He bit his lips as he tried to withhold the urge to scream out loud. How could this have happened? It was so sudden. Too sudden, in fact. How could this have happened when it still felt like Jongwoon had surprised him only just yesterday?
In actuality, a few months ago - in December - Jongwoon surprised him in the restaurant they had always gone to with flowers and chocolates and most importantly, a ring. He had given him beautifully wrapped red roses and heliotrope, and a box of chocolates. Dinner went on as usual after that, but following their main course, he told him to eat the chocolates as dessert with a playful smile. Sungmin had been skeptical, why would he want to finish a box of chocolates within a day? However, Jongwoon was persistent and so; he settled on indulging his lover.
It wasn’t long until he ate a chocolate with something so solid that he grimaced at the pain he felt from the chocolate. His expression must have showed it then, for Jongwoon grinned so hard he was sure the entire restaurant would have been blinded by it. Raising an eyebrow questioningly, he brought his hand to his lips and took out the remaining chocolate to inspect it. And what he saw stunned him into silence.
It was a delicate ring, a thin silver band that eventually spiraled into a dazzling design and sporting a diamond. Sungmin could only stare at it in awe before his attention went to Jongwoon completely. The older smiled warmly, taking the ring from his hand and got up from his seat. He then went down on his knees and said, “We’ve known each other for ten over years, and we’ve been together for five of those years. You’ve been a part of me ever since and I can’t thank you enough for that. You gave me strength and encouraged me whenever I needed it and comforted me when circumstances called for it. I want you to continue being a part of me. I need you. I hope you’d be with me every step of the way, be by my side forever and always. We’d go through the good or the bad, happy or sad together, and we’ll grow old together, have fun together. I love you. And I will always love you... Lee Sungmin, would you marry me?”
As he stared into those dark orbs of his lover’s, he could feel the intensity and the love he was proclaiming he had. Jongwoon’s eyes were full of sincerity and warmth, yet at the same time Sungmin could sense that he was nervous and afraid of what his answer might be. He felt so happy he didn’t know how to show it to the older. So, with a smile, he nodded his agreement and flung his arms around the other’s neck. “Yes. Yes, I will, Jongwoon. Of course I will! I love you.” He heard his boyfriend laugh in glee as he wrapped his arms around his waist and spun him around, forgetting the fact that they were still in the restaurant. After his excitement died down a little, he placed a kiss on top of Sungmin’s head and murmured into his ear, “I love you more.”
And Sungmin couldn’t argue with that.

The drive to the hospital was long. Of course, it was a long drive psychologically. In reality, however, it took about half an hour for Sungmin to reach. He walked up to the front desk and informed the nurse of his fiancé’s name. Immediately, he was taken down the corridor, passing by numerous wards and rooms. Sungmin felt like he was walking past a million places, faced with many different yet similar settings, forever getting lost in them - just like being in a maze. The nurse guiding him suddenly became a doctor, and then out of a blue, it became a group of them. They were telling him about what happened, why they couldn’t call earlier and that they were apologetic that they couldn’t do much about whatever issue. In all honesty, Sungmin could barely hear them. He could catch “secluded road”, “no one knew”, “came late”, “too late”, but that was all he could take notice of. What he was really thinking about was just a cluster of the same thing - Jongwoon. The name swam in his head around and around unceasingly, wrecking his state of mind.
Finally, they came to a stop in front of a room. The doctor - ‘where did the others go?’ Sungmin briefly wondered - nodded his head slightly and beckoned him to enter. He closed his eyes, breathing in deeply to compose himself and tried to keep a straight face as he entered the room. His heart broke at the sight of Jongwoon with multiple tubes attached to his body, his beloved lying there motionlessly with only a slight movement of his head in recognition. ‘He’s relying on the machine for survival,’ he thought as he surveyed the other end of the tubes which were connected to a machine, his heart sinking even deeper at the realisation. Sungmin felt his eyes water, but he forcefully swallowed the feelings arising from the pits of his stomach, and sat down on the chair beside the bed the older was on. He held onto the other’s hand tightly, perhaps a little too tight, but both of them didn’t seem to care.
“Hey,” Sungmin said softly, bringing Jongwoon’s hand to his mouth for a kiss.
“Hey,” the older replied hoarsely, giving him a small smile.
“How are you feeling?” The younger managed to squeeze out.
“Been better,” Jongwoon tried to joke. Despite Sungmin’s outlook, the older was sure the younger was suffering inside. He knew him too well to fall for his façade. Sungmin could be a master at hiding his emotions, but he would never believe the mask the younger instilled to pretend he was not affected. It hurt him to see the younger feeling so terrible because of him. He never wanted the younger to feel this way. He wanted him to be happy always.
“Don’t look so glum. Smile for me, please? I love to see you smile,” he said, offering the younger a small smile himself.
Sungmin felt his tears start to gather again, but he pushed them aside and gave the older what he asked for.
“There, all better,” Jongwoon grinned.
The younger nodded, nuzzling the back of the hand he held in his.
“It’ll be alright, right? We still have to adopt kids - you know how I want an entire soccer team of them? - but it’s okay if we don’t because they might be a handful for us, especially if they were all boys. I can’t imagine the house being so rowdy even with you there. We won’t have peace for years until they grow old,” Jongwoon laughed quietly.
Sungmin cracked a smile at his words. He knew the other was trying to make him feel better. The other was always like that, putting him first in everything despite the fact that it should be the other way around in such circumstances. He should stay strong for the older, right? He shouldn’t feel this way in front of his fiancé who had given him so much. Right, he shouldn’t. He has to be strong.
“Well... actually, I don’t think it’s a bad idea. After raising them to be good kids we’ll be able to retire early and have them take care of us instead, no? Imagine an entire team taking care of us; we’ll be the luckiest parents ever. We definitely won’t have to worry about expenses anymore then, because they’ll cover it all for us!” He exclaimed softly.
Jongwoon chuckled, “Then doesn’t that mean our house has to be bigger to accommodate all of them? Come to think of it, we should have the house next to a football field. We can train them there every day and turn them into soccer superstars.”
“Yeah, we should! And we can stay there forever because it will be our own private property... No matter what happens...” Sungmin trailed off, unsure of what to continue after he accidentally let his emotions slip. He clutched the older’s hand even tighter and rubbed his face against it. He looked up at him, “Remember? We’d go through the good or the bad, happy or sad together, and we’ll grow old together, have fun together. We’ll always love each other.”
The older nodded, giving him a smile bigger than the previous ones. “Forever and always.”
Sungmin was about to say more when an idea suddenly struck him. He turned to Jongwoon with a grin before running out of the door, “Wait for me.”

Sungmin knew there wasn’t much time left. Throughout his conversation with Jongwoon, he had been paying attention to the monitor beeping beside him. Not only that, he could feel it as well. He felt tears coming up again at the thought of losing his beloved, but he shook it off. He can’t cry, not now. Later maybe, but definitely not now. Not when Jongwoon was still concerned over him and worrying over him when he should be the only one doing so.
Once he rushed out of the room, he gathered a handful of nurses and requested for their help in his idea. They were all very willing to help after he explained what he was about to do, and one of them helped him speak to the couple they found next door for their assistance as well. He then called up his close friend who lived two blocks away from the hospital to hurry down and aid him. When he had the help he needed, he entered the room again with all of them backing him up.
The moment he entered the room, he smiled brilliantly at the older. “I love you. And I can’t imagine life without you. So, I have brought my witnesses and... well, Siwon is capable enough in being in charge of our mini ceremony.”
He nodded to Siwon as the latter took out a small journal of some sort and started to speak, “Do you, Kim Jongwoon, take Lee Sungmin to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?”
Startled, Jongwoon widened his eyes and looked at Sungmin promptly. The younger smiled, and nodded encouragingly. ‘Go on,’ he mouthed to him.
The older gave a small smile, “I do.”
Siwon then turned to Sungmin, “Do you, Lee Sungmin, take Kim Jongwoon to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?”
“I do.”
“You may now exchange your rings and kiss.”
Sungmin took hold of Jongwoon’s hand and helped him slip the ring onto his ring finger before slipping the other ring onto the latter’s ring finger. Sungmin smiled, his tears gathering in his eyes once more and this time, instead of burying it inside him again, he leaned over to peck Jongwoon on the lips at the same time the tears fell. Everyone in the room started clapping and congratulating, teasing and laughing at the couple, yet all had unshed tears in their eyes. They watched as Jongwoon and Sungmin shared a sweet kiss on the lips, as Jongwoon whispered, “Where did you get the rings?” to which the younger replied with, “The nurses helped me borrow from the couple next door.” and Jongwoon laughing lightly at it before they shared another kiss. Sungmin then smiled warmly at the older as he looked into those captivating dark orbs of his lover and said, “We’ve known each other for ten over years, I’ve loved you for ten years and we’ve been together for five. You’ve always made my life complete and I can’t thank you enough for that. Your love and sincerity for me have always been true and you always think of me before yourself. Many times I thought you were too good for me but you always knew how to make me think twice about that thought. I need you. And I’ll always want you to be a part of me. We’d go through the good or the bad, happy or sad together, and we’ll grow old together, have fun together. I love you. And I’ll love you always.”
Once said, Sungmin realized the sounds of the monitor dimming and tears started to form again. He didn’t bother about masking it anymore and allowed it to flow down his cheeks. He started sobbing loudly as he held onto Jongwoon’s hand tighter. The latter merely smiled and motioned for him to nuzzle his hand. His voice soft and raspy, he said, “I’ll love you forever, forever and always. Please, promise you’ll remember this. Even if I’m not here, I’ll always love you. I’ll always be with you. I’ll always be just right beside you. I’ll never leave you. Forever and always.”

A/N: Uh.. there might be a sequel with it becoming HyukMin. Might because I'm a lazy author and I keep procrastinating. ._.
