Pairing(s): Hyunjoong/Kyujong
Genre: Fluff, Romance
Rating(s): PG; 1050 words
Warning(s): mute!Kyujong
Summary: Hyunjoong and Kyujong goes on a date in the park.
A/N: For
curionenene . It was meant to be shorter, but I extended it with a whole lot of scenes, so I hope it won't be too bad.. & that it'll be enjoyable to read. ;D
Second A/N:: This was written for
gyonggo's secret santa fanfic exchange. ^^ The original version of this story is much shorter, and I also handed it in as my English homework. This extended version has extra scenes in it while the shorter version would be more straight-to-the-point. Personally, I like the original version much better.

Hyunjoong closed his eyes, feeling the soft breeze caressing his face and the scent of flowers drifting into his nostrils. He smiled as he breathed in the fresh air, the musky air instantly calming him like no other.
“Hyunjoong.”
He felt - rather than heard - someone calling him. Grinning, he turned around, beckoning that special person over. Lightly, he padded through the supple grass with a dainty jump in every step, his smile for him so pure and innocent that Hyunjoong thought he looked like an angel. When he reached him, the elder stretched his arms across, grabbing his hand gently and intertwining them.
“What are you doing?” The wind whispered the younger’s question.
“I was relaxing. Nature always has a way to help you de-stress,” he replied as he closed his eyes again and gave himself to the scenery.
He stood still, listening to the vicinity around them intently and feeling the warmth his surroundings gave. The air buzzed with activity - for they were in a park - yet Hyunjoong drowned out the shouting and yelping of the people and concentrated on the sole stupendous sound of nature. His companion smiled as he followed his actions, breathing in the warm afternoon air and trying his best to understand what his boyfriend was trying to achieve.
“I think I feel it.”
“Of course you do,” Hyunjoong replied as he pulled the younger closer to him.
“Let’s take a walk.”

They had gone around the park, blissfully ignorant to the other people around. They went on boat rides, chased each other, and were having a picnic at the moment. Life had never been so carefree before they met.
“Tired?” Kyujong cocked his head, staring up at him quizzically.
“No, I’m not. My energy source is here, isn’t it?” Hyunjoong smiled, squeezing the other’s hand.
“What do you want to do next?”
Kyujong shrugged, his eyes wandering across the green grass to the pathway for bicycles. A thoughtful smile formed on his lips as he turned to his boyfriend, only to be faced with his profile.
“Let’s get a double bike,” the latter said without a glance at the former.
Grinning, Kyujong nodded and grabbed the hand held out to pull himself up.
“I think the rental shop’s over there,” Hyunjoong muttered, and Kyujong allowed him to lead the way.
They had walked for a while before Kyujong spotted the shop located at the far end of the area. Pulling the elder quickly, they made their way into the store. There was a middle aged man wearing a white sleeveless shirt and a pair of dirty, washed out jeans feeding a brown and white cat. Hyunjoong let go of Kyujong’s hand the moment they saw them, knowing the latter would run towards the animal in excitement.
Sure enough, his boyfriend ran towards the cat and stroked it without hesitation. Shaking his head, he looked at the man in charge.
“Can we rent a double bike?”
The man smiled warmly, “Of course. Just give me your identification card for the moment until you return the bike. It’s $7 for two hours, by the way.”
Hyunjoong nodded, fishing out the cash and card, and handing it over to the shop owner before turning to his boyfriend. His eyes softened at the sight of him playing with the cat, which seemed to be enjoying itself from jumping up to paw the keychain that Kyujong was holding up. Not wanting to destroy the moment, he leaned against the store’s metal bar as he waited for his boyfriend.
It didn’t take minutes for Kyujong to realise that it had been incredibly silent, and he forced himself to look away from the cat. When his eyes met Hyunjoong’s, he gave a sheepish smile.
“Sorry.”
Hyunjoong shook his head in reply, “It’s okay. Do you want to go now? Or we can sta-“
“Let’s go!”

After cycling for two whole hours, they went back to the store and returned the bikes before making their way to the benches near by. Exhausted, Kyujong leaned against Hyunjoong’s sturdy shoulders.
“Today was really fun.”
“Only today?”
“You know what I mean,” Kyujong pouted.
Hyunjoong beamed in reply, his light brown orbs looking down at him attentively. Finally, they were able to just sit and rest, as well as enjoy the warm breeze. Like many other times, he took in his boyfriend’s distinct features slowly - his beautifully arched eyebrows, his small but cute nose, his plump and kissable lips, and his refined jaw line - and wondered for the umpteenth time how he managed to get a hold on him. Granted, he was far from perfect, but to him he’s all he could ever wish for; and for that, he was flawless to him.
“No, I’m not,” he protested, even though Hyunjoong didn’t say a thing.
“I can’t speak.”
“You say it best, when you say nothing at all,” he sang quietly, his gaze never leaving the younger. “You and I both know I don’t need to hear you aloud - I can feel it perfectly fine. Your soft melodious voice inside my heart is enough to make me understand and I like it that way.”
“But Hyunjoong...”
“You can speak right to my heart, and that’s all I ever need; as cheesy as that sounds.”
Kyujong smiled, letting the wind settle between them soothingly. He returned to admiring the scenery and hearing the bustle of people around him, no longer trying to listen for the unique sounds of nature. The image of everything he heard formed a larger picture, and he was delighted to keep it as a memory.
“Kyujongie,” Hyunjoong breathed in his ear.
He looked up immediately, cocking his head to a side with a puzzled expression. His soulful, doe-like eyes pierced into Hyunjoong’s soul, forcing him to catch his breath. His eyes promised of nothing but his trust he had in him and his reliance on him - and it was all he needed to know he’d never leave; his kind and gentle boyfriend would never leave him behind.
“I love you.”
Kyujong smiled angelically, his mouth forming the four simple words though not a sound could be heard. However, he knew he heard him loud and clear, for their hearts were adjoined and would never be apart...
“I love you, too.”
