Sasha, recently de-peached, is on a small path through the woods.

Maybe he's looking for something, maybe he's just walking. He's not too certain himself.

Mosca is similarly prowling, as it happens, having left Saracen cheerfully ravaging the lawn (and possibly the passersby). "Hullo."

"Oh!" Sasha says, "Hello, miss. How's your goose?"

"He's all right." She looks up at him a little warily, not quite sure if she recognizes him.

"Oh, good," Sasha says. He tucks his hands into his pockets and pauses when it occurs to him that the last time he saw her he was, in fact, a girl.

"Ah," he says and frowns. "I, ah. I - didn't look quite myself, last time I saw you."

Mosca tips her head to one side, as though that might help. "'S that so?"

Sasha nods, turning a little red about the cheeks.

"Well, I guess you mustn't of, 'cause I don't remember." She shrugs, and looks at him right way up again. "I'm Mosca."

"Sasha," Sasha says, and grins. "Pleased to meet you properly, Mosca."

She tucks her hands behind her. "Where you from, then? Don't seem like hardly anybody here is from real places."

Sasha laughs. "I've noticed that. I come from Russia - we live in the woods there, in the forest north of Kiev."

"Huh," is Mosca's eloquent opinion. "Never heard of that one, either. Who's 'we'?"

"Maybe we're far away," Sasha says, because Russia may be a lot of things, but imaginary is not one of them. "Ah, sorry. 'We' is my friends and I."

"Yeah?" She swings a foot, considering this. "My town's in the woods, too. Well, nearly. And I don't live there no more, but still..."

"They stick with you?" Sasha asks, and wriggles his bare toes into the dust.

"I guess so."

Sasha smiles. "I think so, too."

He looks about at the lower branches. "This forest is different from ours. Less pine, for one. Fewer ash."
