a teaser from my new journal!
so i realized i forgot to mention my trip to the powwow last saturday. As always, it was so much fun and i had a fantastic time! of course, as a woman, my first concern was shopping! i bought a beautiful brown and white ring, and i'm very proud of it. and as a citizen, i always get sad and incensed thinking about the injustices of the native american. by the way, i HATE the term american indian. because indians are from INDIA. just because columbus thought he landed in the west indies still does not make the indigenous people INDIANS. i have typed the word inida and indian so much that its starting to look like a fake word to me...
anyhow, also this weekend, we're going to the highland games! the highland games are always a high point for me, i enjoy cultural events so much. I'm leaving tomorrow night when i get off of work (god knows when that'll be; and i used "god" more metaphorically rather than as a statement of my personal beliefs) to pick up my big sis, wendy in S.A.
going off on a sister tangent!
I really wanted her to come this year, so I offered to pick her up, because I sincerely enjoy having her around. She is one of the few people i find incredibly insightful and intelligent, and it's always a pleasure to spend time with her. She's also one of the few people who has a lot of the same interests as i do, probably because she basically shaped me into who i am. I could go on forever and ever, about how much i love my sister and how much her opinion influences me, but who really wants to hear that?
anyways, me and forrest are going to pick her up tomorrow, and we'll need to stop off at starbucks first. if its going to be late, i'm going to need that caffeine to keep me awake!
oh, also, i'm kicked out of my room. frowny face :(
my mom's friend marco should be in town now, and i'm telling you, there was a major upheaval/renovation awaiting his arrival. i hope he appreciates it!!! here is a list of the headache inducing things we had to do:
1. strip the wallpaper in the kitchen and paint
2. paint my bedroom
3. get the carpets steam cleaned.
4. replace the door from the kitchen to the garage
5. buy new blinds and curtains for my room
the most frustrating things were those damn blinds!!! first they were cut too short, then i kept drilling into drywall and the screws kept spinning and spinning, so then i had to install drywall anchors. i kind of hate blinds now....
but it's over and i'm proud of the work i achieved!
on another note, i'm staying at forrests house, since i'm kicked out of my room, and i was supposed to bring all my stuff with me. i brought my PS2, but i forgot my games! d'oh!
