It's been six weeks since the last time we spoke and I can help but wonder is it lonely where you are? There's never been so much distance between us before ...
I'm in New Mexico for the weekend with some other warden trainees for uh ... well training. My trial went really well, but I'm sure you expected nothing less, you've been my biggest supporter for as long as I can remember.
I know somethings wrong. Every time I get enough nerve to ask someone how your doing, I get odd answers and no one ever mentions divorce.
What's going on? I miss you so much.
It's at this point that Damien runs out of space on the post card. He looks it over, front and back, re-reading it several times. He swallows at the lump in his throat and wipes away the water that's accumulated in his eyes. It's the desert climate he assures himself.
After examining the card he decides he cant send it. Not because of anything that he wrote, but because he knows he doesn't really want an answer. He tears up the card and tosses it into a near by campfire, before heading back to his tent for some sleep.
