There are times where I really hate our society. And I love celebrity gossip as much as the next person, but what are they teaching us? They're constantely going into rehabs because they give in to so much pressure of drinking and dieting and everything that is completely unhealthy for them.
We are ungrateful for the lives we have. We complain and get depressed over little things. We crave attention. And even worse, when we complain about something, it can indirectly hurt another person. We complain because we've had a head cold for two weeks, or we have a pounding headache that just won't seem to go away no matter how much asprin we take. Stupid things like gaining 5 pounds or that B+ you got in your economics class is just absolutely awful and now you'll never get a job after college. I'm not saying that I'm not guilty of these little things, but there are problems in this world and while we're sitting in our nice little homes or dorms, there are countless numbers of children dying of starvation, people being abused, innocent people being raped and people fighting a war and dying for a country, whether they believe in the cause or not. Cancer has yet to be cured, teen pregnancies are increasing and AIDS is still a huge problem. I mean, the list could go on forever. This world is an awful place and how is it right that I'm upset over stupid insecurities?
I've had the pleasure of having two amazing people in my life. Both of these men are inspirations to me. Just seeing them enter a room will brighten my day. They have both had awful things happen to them, but they go on smiling anyway. Lives are taken every single second of the day, yet they were miracles and survived. But here we are taking advantage of the only life we have on this planet...
Am I the only one who feels guilty about all of this?
