I recently watched the movie Crows Zero, based off the popular Japanese Manga. It is about a Kid who transfers to the worst school in the nation and is known for fighting. There are all of these little factions, and groups that fight for power and influence. The main character Genji played by Oguri Shun ( <3) is trying to unite the school under him, so he can take over the family business (Being a Yakuza, mafia boss).
I did not think I would like it a movie that can be described as a bunch of gan fighting, but i loved it. It moved me. In America high school is all about popularity, the grades, and the typical head cheerleader dates the captain of a sports team. In the movie the fighting teaches the kids, about loyalty, respect, honor, diplomacy, keen observation skills, and that no matter what you do there is always someone better than you. It in odd way the school prepares the students for the real world. The brawling was done so well, and the back story of the characters kept the movie from being just violence and flat. The directing, the music, the acting, the cinematography was all done so well.
The movie was filled with top actors like:
-Shun Oguri
-Kyosuke Yabe
-Takayuki Yamada
-Sousuke Takaoka
-The Izaki Twins
-Dai Watanabe
Bottom of the line: Even though the movie is in Japanese and you need to read English subtitles check it out. You won't regret it.
