People try to trick you--that's why you have to get out there and find out.

[Hmph.] Yeah.

[Riku sounds a bit bitter--never what you thought it was, yeah. He hadn't thought his best friend would turn against him, hadn't trusted Maleficent's word... going out and seeing for himself had certainly changed everything--maybe him most of all.]

[Oogway is a very old turtle. Sometimes he just makes things up and guesses; no one remembers the misses, but when he's right, everyone takes notice.]

Sho, the world is very different than you expected. Do you regret coming to find it?

Getting off my own world, finding new places... that's what I wanted.

Maybe "finding it" just showed everything as it really was.

Hmmm... The world, as people, have many layers. Even when you look into their hearts, there is more than can be seen. Can you say you have always shown the truth to those around you?

[He hurms softly, scratching at his chin. This is audible, thanks to the nature of his claws and scales.]

Well, perhaps I have not been completely honest, myself. I am Master Oogway.

[...HMM. Riku actually has to pause and think about that. He tries to be honest to other people...

...but he isn't, though, not if he's truly honest to himself. He's a boy of secrets and mistrust, and he doesn't entirely trust anybody anymore.]

Den perhaps is the answer.

To see why the world is different, see what you expected it to be. It was never dat way to begin with, except in your mind, and your heart.

[He chuckles]

This is a very common problem, for the young. It is called 'innocence.' Those that have given away the ability to see with innocent eyes, often prey upon those that have not. Others protect it, jealously.

Nobody can ever really get it back, once it is gone.

[Audio]

You think so?

[Riku sounds doubtful. He'd expected it to be an adventure, with Sora and Kairi both by his side as they explored the worlds. All of them happy. All of them together. Is Oogway telling him that it was never really that way in the first place?

Frowning now, though you still can't see it.]

So you're saying that innocence makes us see things that aren't really there.

It makes us miss things that we might otherwise have seen. To ignore it, for the sake of happiness. Dat is what makes it so precious.
