Alone

I mentioned this to a few of you before and some of you have the same fear... the fear of being utterly alone. Its pretty scary. The past year and half has been pretty terrifying with that thought going through my head. I was constantly trying to make sure I was doing something or with someone. It wasn't really till last week that I was ok with the idea of being along on occasion. Sure I don't want to be alone forever but worrying about it all the time didn't make it easier. One thing I'm all about is NOT worrying about things... I mean really what DOES worrying DO? really it just makes you life MORE stressful and who wants more stress?

So this weekend is and has been my FAVORITE weekend of the year, 4th of July. There are events in my life that make it my favorite and least favorite holiday but over all i just love the atmosphere of the 4th, the weather, the fireworks, the people. Its just such a lovely time of year :) Anyway I was thinking "you know what? I have the ability to go places and I have nothing going on and well, I'd be fine if i wasn't around for this holiday (just because of past memories) :/ so I'll go to Savannah GA or maybe Campground: Flamingo" First off Savannah just seems like a cool place and its only 4.5 hours away!!! and Camp Flamingo i mean seriously thats like in the middle of nowhere Everglades! Soo cool! think about how many people have ever been there? prob not many, it would be soo cool to say you are one of the "few". well I was all excited about either of these places, where I would be alone!? But then something happened, well more like a lot of somethings happened. Slowly the entire weekend was filled with fun things to do with people? ok seriously where did this come from? When I'm all worried about being alone its hard to find anything to do but the moment I stop looking there it is? Opportunities all around!

"....don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

"Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion-do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers-most of which are never even seen-don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met."
