The ways of fame

I've just discovered that "Annúminas" has made it into "The Worst of the Worst LOTR Stories" comm on FF.Net. *g*

I'm so proud!

Of course, considering the fact that it's a Mpreg story, it's not surprising that some people would hate it on principle.

Oh, wow, so the counter is still active, although he/she/it deleted their forum, now? My condolences. :)

It's not the forum. It's the community. But it doesn't really bother me. At least s/he/it must have read the story (or the introduction, at the very least) to hate it that much. *g*

Awww! But you know, I always wondered why he/she/it never put my spin off fic in her community, if it is non-canon and slash s/he is after. I mean, you can hardly get more away friom canon than that. Still - not a peep. I wonder why that is?

As for your fic, dear Soledad, I really think you have more readers than only the Counter! At least, you deserve more! *HUGS tight*

Do you have Mpreg in that story? Or a girl bamfing into Middle-earth? No? Well, then you're not worthy of the raised forefinger of doom, I'm afraid. *g*

Oh... for crying out loud.
That is the * only * reason one of your stories would get on one of their snotty little lists.

* Is FURIOUS*

I hate ff.net with a passion: the nastiness, the cliques, the insults and bitching on there, the slash haters, the canatics.

I won't read on there unless a story I like is posted nowhere else at all. It's a sewer of a site and attracts the ghastly little toads who congregate with other to snark and spork and bully. Even if my stuff was not adult, I would sooner stick pins in my eyes than post there. I feel like taking a shower even after looking.

Heh! It's not FF.Net alone. The story holds the proud record of being the quickest refusal from HASA, too. Twenty minutes after it had been recced, it already had the necessary numbers of refusal. ;)

Yeah, FF.Net isn't a pleasant place. I still post there, though, because it's the largest multifandom site, and I write in so many fandoms that it's about the only archive I can put up the majority of my stuff (save the adult ones and those with the forbidden quotes, hehehe).

Besides, many of my current online friends I met on FF.Net. And before most of them had fallen out of the fandom - or came to resent my writing, at the least - I used to get a lot of support over there. All those small, specified archives have added a great deal to the fracturing of the Tolkien fandom, you know. Even the fact that FF.Net now has a different page for Silmfics caused me to lose a lot of readers. Those who would take a look at my LOTR stuff earlier, just because it was there, won't come over from the Silmarillion page to do so now...

I only post here ( as back-up) and LOTR fanfiction.com, because that takes adult and has an admin who discourages flaming, sporking and bullying. It's a friendly site, although much smaller, but it has off-topic stories too ( one of my f-list posts V for Vendetta and The Cell fics there. Of course LOTR is the main fandom ( ... )

I like the policy of SoA - they accept a writer, not a story, and once you're accepted, you can post your stories, as long as they're within the site's guidelines. Unfortunately, they don't accept slash, adult stuff or crossovers, although the latter is still a mystery to me.

I mean, I can understand that they don't want "Harry Potter the Tenth Walker" fics in the archive - I wouldn't want those, either - but once they have an established writer, they can be reasonably sure that s/he wouldn't write such tripe, right?

Perhaps if you let the mod know that you're my friend? ;)

In a fandom where I was attacked because of a) being a dirty slasher and b) being a narrow-minded homophobe - and I'm not kidding you here! - practically everything is possible.

Yay, congratulations!

That list is enormous: almost 1500 stories! I glanced at the first couple of pages; most of the summaries are like, 'girl falls into Middle-earth; this is my first fic so please be nice', which makes 'Annuminas' seem an odd choice.

Not really. It is Mpreg, after all, and we all know that every self-respecting fan (Tolkien or otherwise) ought to hate Mpreg. Look how fast the story was rejected by HASA!

Don't worry about it. :) I suspect they picked it because it's Mpreg and we all know that Mpreg has to be bad /turns nasty generalizations off. In case it helps, I think highly of that fic because it is realistically rendered :)

I'm not worried at all. I won't let narrow-minded idiots tell me what I'm allowed to write and what not. Sie können mich mal, to use the adequate German expression.

Personally, I like Annúminas a lot (well, not the grammar part of it, it seriously needs a beta). It was enormous fun to write, and besides, I do like Mpreg, as long as it's well-founded. I'll have to find that Mpreg medical illustration thingy I have somewhere on my HD.
