Our cleaning lady has unexpectedly fallen ill and had to cancel today's appointment. The problem is: everything had already been prepared for a one-morning, two-women job. So I had to do the whole cleaning on my own; well, except the parts where I would have to climb on ladders or turn over Mum's mattress (the latter job requires two pairs of hands; it is an extremely broad, almost rectangular mattress). And I skipped wiping the corridor. I was simply too exhausted.
When I was done, I had to hit the supermarkets because whe'd run out of milk and fruits, both of which are absolute necessities in our house. But it was actually a blessing. I would have stiffened up like a day-old corpse, had I had the time to rest after the cleaning. This way, I had to move and it allowed my muscles to de-cramp a bit. My back and knees are still quite stiff, and I assume tomorrow will be even worse, but the hopping around in the supermarkets really helped.
Consequently, there was no crafting and (so far) no writing done today. At least no cooking, either. We still had some leftover soup, and I bought croissants and other viennoisiere (sp?) products at the corner café for half the price, as they were a bit older - but still delicious.
Needless to say that the ongoing decluttering had to be postponed as well. But tomorrow will be mine entirely. We agreed to have Käsespätzle, which in our family simply means boiled pasta with grated cheese, so no big deal. And laundry day isn't too bad, seeing that Louise (=the washing machine) does most of the work.
