So not my day!

Sep 24, 2024 21:30

It started with the last part of the bi-weekly cleaning. I almost managed to do it in two hours, with just a little bit of packing afterwards.

Then watched some YouTube videos on my new iPad, slept about half an hour and I boiled pasta for lunch. We've just finished eating when the phone rang; it was a pre-arranged call from Telekom's customer service (actually arranged for yesterday, but let us be magnanimous, shall we?) about giving us the new optic cable option for the landline.

That shouldn't have been too complicated, right? Only that the landline runs under Mum's name, whose ID is really outdated (they had given her for unlimited time back then, in the Iron Age, as she'd been pretty old already), and thus the system didn't accept its number. No problem, I said, let's transfer the landline contract to my name, I already have mobile contract with Telekom.

The poor, honestly helpful administrator tried everything on Earth and more, but it just wasn't doable. Guess why? Right, because their system doesn't accept Mum's ID number and replies every time that her personal data don't match the ones registered with the Home Office. And no, the system couldn't tell which data don't match. So, I can either try to contact the Home Office (and a fat chance do I have for that), or we forget about the optic cable thing and will simply lose our landline when Telekom switches to optic cable entirely.

Apparently, if I drag Mum to their customer service in person (again, fat chance for that, as the ones I know can't be reached by car closely enough for Mum to manage the rest of the distance), and she shows them her ID, they might be able to transfer the landline contract to my name. Might being the key word here. I won't expose her to that stress, of course.

There's one more thing I'll try next week. I'll go to the government customer service; perhaps they can find out what's wrong with Mum's personal data as registered with the Home Office. Or I can try to get her a new ID. We'll see if I can accomplish either of these things.

THE STUPID BUREAUCRACY, IT BURNS!

Erm... yes. Well, by the time I finished things with Telekom it was already too late to arrive for choir practice in time, so I decided not to go. I wouldn't have the nerve to sit through practice anyway. But went to a repair shop near school, where I left a pair of battered manicure scissors for sharpening and repair, because I promised to fetch them today. Only that by the time I got there the repair shop was closed, too. So I'll have to go again on Thursday, before my appointment at the hairdresser's. Joy, joy. I've only planned to go to three other shops on the same day, plus to the supermarket, so it will be a true delight - NOT!

Well, that was my day, with major setbacks and basically not a minute for me, except those two YouTube videos. Tomorrow I'm determined to be lazy. Do you here me? LAAAAAZY!!!
