At least it's not a sparkle vampire

Weyekin has an enlarged heart like Shelly now. Vet gave her Furosemide (water-pill) and Enalapril to help preserve her heart. But she suddenly had zero energy, seemed to not know where she was, and would only pee once every 24hrs. Looked up the drugs' side effects and called the vet. She's off Enalapril for now and pretty much back to her old self. Way to give me grey hairs, Doc.

Anyway:

True Blood: New series on HBO about vampires living among us. The viral marketing for it had me REALLY interested. Bloodcopy.com if you want to see it. The site was a vampire sitings e-newspaper that kept tabs on the vampire world "coming out of the coffin" and the blood-alternative serum allowing them to do it. Great acting and everything to get you psyched, ya know?

The Pilot seemed to take all the good writing, acting and mystery from the marketing...and threw it in the toilet. Firstly, they have Anna Paquin (Rogue from X-men movies) in the main cast. That's not going to affect how i judge a whole show, but i'm just letting you know i facepalm'd at how talentless she still is. I will now give you a breakdown of why i had to turn this garbage off 25min in.

--Just because it's on HBO you can be sure they will throw in lots of sex and cussing just because. Not enhancing the plot, not reflecting how people actually talk (especially in public), not doing anything but taking up time. Hell, the opening scene is a girl giving her boyfriend a handjob as she drives, and they stop short when they see a True Blood sign. Was that needed? Couldn't they have just been driving normally? Talking? Maybe arguing? No. Cuz this is HBO.

--Paquin is a waitress. But WAIT! She's TELEPATHIC! No explanation, no subtly about it. The second we're introduced to her she's walking around hearing everyone's thoughts. I get that this is a fake reality where vampires of legend are real, but somehow pushing a mind-reader at us so quickly seems to take me right out of the story.

--Not only telepathic but a vampire FANGIRL as well. Even tho her character is quickly established as a goody-goody, uptight, prudish, "lady". Yeah, okay. She immediately perks up when her first vampire customer strolls in like he's a celebrity.

--An older couple hanging all over Vamp Boy have the intentions of draining his blood, cuz apparently people use "V-Juice" to get high. Paquin knows this because she heard their thoughts. She dashes to her boss insisting they have to save the vampire. Boss insists vampires can take care of themselves. I mean, what vampire can't fight off two hicks? lol

--Apparently this vampire. Truly we've underestimated these hicks and they're really super trained vampire hunters, right? Wrong. They took Vamp Boy down by laying a thin silver necklace over his wrists and neck. Not tied to anything, not even wrapped around a body part; just laying limply on him. .....Vampires survived this long how exactly?

--Paquin leaps into action and throws a heavy chain she found in the back of a truck at Man-Hick's neck, somehow making it wrap around his neck and choking him. He tugs at it weakly instead of simply UNwrapping it. Woman-Hick bitches but Paquin waves around a little knife Man-Hick dropped and this scares her enough to drag her choking partner away. ...If they could not take down a young woman how did they take down a vampire?

--Paquin peels the necklace off Vamp Boy and they do the whole "why did you save me?"/"why not?" thing. Vamp Boy also makes a comment about arteries all over the body, even the groin, which makes Paquin yell "I AM A LADY AND YOU WILL TALK TO ME AS SUCH!" C'mon.

--I had enough mental torment when Paquin suddenly gets excited that she can't hear Vamp Boy's thoughts. I swear, she grabs his face and in her best worst southern accent exclaims "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" I either had to shut the tv off or try to kill myself with the remote somehow.

The only way i would go back to this series is if the end of the episode suddenly pulled a TWEEST with Vamp Boy draining her to the point of no return then bringing out the Hicks who were his human-vampire accomplices in this little "game", and her last sight is of them leaning down to finish her off.
