What the hell--i'm bored.

I think we should all do this about whatever our fannish bliss is at the moment. Lets make it so that today it is impossible to turn around on LJ without running into a list of joy about some show or another. Who's with me? C'mon, I challenge you. A list of ten things that you love about your current fandom(s) posted to LJ and a challenge to all of your f'list to do the same.
The suspense. Okay, the dvds came out and those of you marathoning the eps in one straight shot probably didn't get the same experience the rest of us did. We had the week between each ep (don't even get me started on the hiatus) to gawk at the cliffhangers and constantly ponder what would happen next. I watched this show with a throw pillow clutched to my chest and being very vocal. No show or movie has put me in that state in years.
The storylines. With the exception of Niki/Jessica, Matt (until the final eps) and Simone, every character's journey grabbed me. From what i understand it's a mix of phenomenal writing, dumb luck, and listening to the fans. Which leads me to #3.
The Powers That Be. They clearly love us which is why we love them. We have/had/will have again free access to episodes online WITH cast commentary. We have online comics. We have grateful cast and crew popping their heads into the fandom to see our likes, dislikes, and...fetishes. Fan shoutouts and exclusive content that let us know this is our show as well.
The cast. Oh, how can you not? Every single one is a complete dork with amazing talent. They act not as co-workers but as family. They're fans of their own show and each other, so they're usually on our level with the cameras and custom shirts. This is not your ordinary cast.
Claire. A female character--a cheerleader--that i approve of? Bitch, that's like finding a four-leaf clover growing out from a crack in concrete.
HRG. A morally-grey DILF that most people didn't trust as far as they could throw, but i believed in him from the start. Even if i still can't call him Noah.
Quinto. There was a point in time when no one really cared about the faceless Sylar who threatened our beloved heroes. You can't really hate a silent shadow without character and call it a villain. Then we saw the face and a slight reason for the villainy, and it all started to change. Character development came, emotion came, a real threat emerged. Soon we all were hit with sympathy for the devil and torn between what side to root for. At one point or another, we got "Quinto'd". I mean, he's probably the reason we didn't all immediately die laughing over the Name Of Evil being taken from a watch. That's fucking talent.
Mylar. Syhindlar, S&M, Sylinder. So wrong yet so right. I'm not talking only the pairing and subtext, but the fans too. We get angst, we get fairy tale, we get disturbingly dark, we get crack that borders on acid trip. What i love most is how it started with a small "lol this would be amusing," to "all the looks, touches and confessions just upgraded this to a real pairing," to "is this canon? cuz it looks like canon," and finally "FIVE YEARS = CANON, BITCHEZ!" Actor support puts the oh-so-tasty cherry on top.
Fandom Wank. We mock because we love. And we CAN. Face it, Heroes Logic is flawed. Continuity wavers a bit. Peter is an emo puppy, Nathan has fathered everyone, Mohinder has the power of Plotholes, Matt's a failure, brainz taste yummy, and Mr. Muggles is the evil we've all been warned about. If anyone is taking this fandom seriously, they're missing the point.
The Fans themselves. You want an awesome fandom? This is the place to be. We're diverse and weird and frighteningly devoted, but we have a great time. I've not once witnessed a dividing fight between fans. No one bitter, no one pissed their OTP isn't yours. We're very laid-back. Crazy, maybe. Infatuated, for sure. Going broke, you bet your ass. But we're approachable and will happily take an uninitiated along for the ride. Don't worry, they usually survive.
