Lowdown / Update / Information / News.
Ok chaps and chapettes. Here is the lowdown to help you get to know what has happened in this Void of a LJ post.
Note: This random blerb in not in any order of importance or logic so there you are.
Firstly let me start on the important assignment coursework front. In the next two weeks I have to hand in two essays and to complete an interregnum check on my creative work.
It is all going well, yes but I am planning at the moment to have it all done by this Thursday if possible so then I can spend Mothering Sunday at home with my Mother.
And not rely on the impersonal service of British Mail getting her gift and her card there on time. Being actually there will of course be better.
This means that I will, yes have to get my work finished early (and not do the normal last minute rush) but if I am sure that I can't get it all done to my normal standard by this time then I can fall back on the extra days.
So that means that I will not be monstering the FFWF event nor the Scouts event (however much I hoped to attend either one of them) and that I will not be playing in this months Gathering duelling game.
Secondly let my continue on an LT front.
I attended the Jackals Parly on a last minute whim and had great fun. My greatest thanks must go out to Lara for the lift from the station and for Sheikh (Dave) for the opposite journey.
The party on the Friday was all a good time and I could chat with everyone OC and see how their Winter was. For some short bursts I felt left out (I was a Viper at a Jackal Parly) but everyone wanted to be friendly with everyone else so that feeling soon passed. It was good so see Leon again especially because he seemed very relaxed and chilled out (sometimes he seems a bit too excited and intense) and it was fun just talking to the guy as a mate.
First of all let me say that this was my first foray into the face paint and make up department and as I was walking to the station I picked up some cheapish face paint and thought that some Mortis warpaint would really make the point of a Mortis follower going out into foreign lands. So I smothered myself with this stuff and covered all of my human looking skin with red and black paint and yes I did look strange and scary and frightening but the stuff got everywhere. On my kit, all over my weapons (my hidden dagger was just covered in red) and even on my new Russian style hat.
And it took ages to get off after the event. I swear I had a redish tint for days.
Met up with lots of the Jackal Ancestors (them have so many) and I grinned widely when Amun-Ra striked everyone down and bellowed "On your knees in respect for Amun-Ra!" and the Vipers and the Guildies (mostly Scouts Guild) all stood up straight away looking rather unimpressed at the gesture.
So the Jackal Factions seems to have four whole pantheans of Ancestors (Aegyption, Graecian, Southlander and Arabiean) by the end of the evening I was getting confused with all of these names being revered with one person or another but basically the Jackals in the recent past have been doing silly things to their faiths and so at this Parly many of the biggest Ancestors appeared to prove that they still had power and still were worthy of being worshipped post Cataclysm.
Amun-Ra did this by appearing just before Lady Tepes was going to talk and by striking everyone down, complaining about the faction losing Estaban (more on that later) and by handing over his special spear to a new champion. Who was then made into the faction leader.
Sethmet did that by looking shifty, discussing things quietly and proving that he could still Fatal someone to the face that was annoying him.
Some Demon Knowledge Ancestor chappy did this by whining at being imprisoned in a library at Babylon and wanted everyone to let him go. Unfortunately in the darkness my warpaint looked rather like the minion demons that this chap was sending out and so when he came a calling I felt it was best to stay inside.
Lots of Vipers were there, and I chatted to everyone including Lady Tepes (Luggage), Rath (Rich) and Rheses (sans LJ) and I rememebered why these people are who they are. It is a pure professionalism and charisma that makes you want to get involved and so I did.
I don't think I embarrised myself on the roleplaying front, but it is hard being a Mortis Padre when Rich says such hilarious things.
Mortis / Group / Character business wise I investigated into the Chalise and gains lots of ace new insight and I have a better idea of what I have to do to get the ball rolling in trying to find it.
Helped put some random Jackal peasants to rest (it seemed a Mortis thing to do; feeling that my hosts might have been annoyed if I had done a rite to dedicate them all. Every pattern deserves to go somewhere, in my opinion).
I also helped doing a rite to talk to a Void entity about what happened to Estaban (may help me finding the Chalise, so I tried to get as much safe-ish Void experience as possible) and it was discovered that an Entropy Rift got him and so his Pattern is lost to the Existential plughole. Will be funny (read scary) to see an Entropy masked Estaban creature appear. This explains why his Ancestor was a bit annoyed and confused about how the Faction had lost his Champion.
Faction wise. We have a formal alliance with the Jackals and our trading goes well.
I am going to carry on with some of my many assignments now. Wish me luck, I probably need it. :)
