He's had this mindset for thousands of years. He's not willing to let go of it so easily.

I would like to believe the possibility exists, but that may be naive optimism on my part from living here for so long. Time will only tell; he may simply not be here for very long, either, given he has been here a few times in the past already as well. I would like for him to have the chance, but we need to accept that right now he just isn't willing to do so. And that puts everyone in danger.
